Expanding the numbered Reno series, Oppo launched two new mid-range smartphones in China — the Reno 12 and the Reno 12 Pro. Both the models ship with MediaTek Dimensity processors, have a 50MP primary camera (with slight differences), and feature a 5,000 mAh battery. Here’s everything you should know about the brand-new Oppo Reno 12 series.
Oppo Reno 12 And Reno 12 Pro: Screen And Processor
Out of the box, the Reno 12 and the Reno 12 Pro come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ curved OLED screen. It supports 120Hz refresh rate and also features 240Hz of touch sampling rate. Both the models have a peak brightness of 1,200 nits and support 2,160Hz PWM dimming rate as well. Last but not least, the screen is protected with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which provides excellent protection against scratches. Thanks to the OLED display, the handsets also feature an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Under the hood, the Reno 12 runs on MediaTek Dimensity 8250 Start Speed Edition chipset. On the other hand, the Reno 12 Pro sports the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition SoC. Despite having different processors, the phones feature up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Reno 12 And Reno 12 Pro: Cameras, Battery, And Connectivity
Interestingly, both the Reno 12 and the Reno 12 Pro feature a similar 50MP primary camera. However, while the former sports a Sony LYT-600 (with a 1/1.95-inch sensor), the latter houses a Sony IMX890 (with a 1/1.56-inch sensor). Hence, in theory, the Reno 12 Pro should click better images with more natural background blur than the regular model.
Apart from the primary sensor, both smartphones have a 50MP telephoto that provides up to 20x digital zoom and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. On the front, users get a 50MP selfie shooter. Powering the handsets is a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging on both models.
Additional features of the Reno 12 and the Reno 12 Pro include 5G, 5G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.4, and a USB-C port. Like the recent mid-range smartphones, both models ship with an IP65 water and dust resistance rating.
