OPPO Enco W51 Review: Design and comfort

OPPO Enco W51 TWS comes tucked inside a rectangular case. It is really compact in size and weighs just 55.5 grams with buds inside. The case has a glossy finish on top which makes it easy to slip in and out of our pocket. We also like that it opens up like a suitcase.

The magnets holding the buds in the case are not very strong, but with this design, it would be tough to lose them when they are affixed in the case. The LED light indicator and the lone button that can be used for pairing purposes are both present inside. The case hinge doesn’t feel very sturdy.

The buds themselves have a unique oval, pill shape design with a flat stem attached to them. These Plastic buds look attractive and have matte finish on the inside surface to help them stay put. Soft silicone tips easily slide into the ear canal but do not go deep enough to cut out ambient noise completely. OPPO provides additional silicon tips in different sizes, if the default one doesn’t fit perfectly. For my ears, the default ones worked best.

They are quite comfortable and offer a very secure fit, which is to say that they didn’t slip out of my ears during my day-to-day activities. I enjoyed using these TWS over hours at a stretch without any major discomfort.

Last but definitely not the least, Enco W51 are IP54 rated, which makes them splash resistant.

Overall, we like the design of Enco W51 and the build quality seems perfectly apt for the price.

OPPO Enco W51 review: Connectivity and controls

Paring the Encho W51 is fairly simple and easy. However, unlike Realme Buds Air Pro, these don’t support Google’s fast pair. The buds establish an independent connection over Bluetooth 5.0 to ensure low latency.

Thanks to the wear sensor, the Enco W51 support auto pause and play function which pauses the music or video as soon as you pull out any bud from your ears.

The OPPO Enco W31 offers touch controls on the buds. One needs to double-tap the left side stem to activate or deactivate noise cancelation and tap the right earbud stem twice to change tracks. A triple tap on either earbud will wake up the phone’s default voice assistant. During my time with, Enco W51 connection was strong in the 5-7 meters range.

OPPO Enco W51 review: Sound, ANC performance

The OPPO Enco W51 houses 7mm dynamic drivers and the sound signature is warm and lay emphasis on bass which should make them appealing to most casual buyers in India. OPPO has tuned the Enco W51 to make them enjoyable to average consumers. Treble is crisp enough without going overboard. It’s just that mids seem slightly suppressed. The sound stage is wide and channel separation is also quite good.

Unlike the Oppo Enco W31, there’s no option to adjust the EQ. Overall, OPPO Enco W51 sound very enjoyable and the tuning should meet the expectations of most casual listeners.

What about the Active noise cancellation?

If you need ANC and are limited by a budget, the Enco W51 is among the handful of options you can choose between. With ANC turned on, the OPPO Enco W51 able to eliminate low background noises and soften the hum of a ceiling fan, AC, etc. However, it doesn’t provide any relief from honking, chatter in the room, machine noise. The ANC experience on Oppo Enco W51 is similar to what we have on Realme Buds Air Pro.

Oppo Enco W51 review: Calling and Battery

Oppo deserves a pat on the back for call quality. The Enco W51 just nails this aspect better than any other TWS in its class. I made and answered several calls on Enco 51 in the last two weeks and there was not a single instance when the person on the other side complaint about call quality.

As for the battery, each bud has a 25mAh battery while the case includes a 480mAh battery. The company claims 3.5hours of battery life with ANC turned on and 5 hours with ANC turned off. In my experience battery life tuned out to be average at best.

I was able to watch Netflix’s Enola Homes completely which has a run time of 1 hour and 23 minutes. With volume levels set to 70 percent and ANC turned on. I was left with about 50 percent battery remaining. of course, every time you put these buds back in case it automatically start charging which will add to the millage.

The case support 10W wired charging via a USB-Type C port which takes an hour to go zero to a hundred percent. It also supports wireless charging which gives it an edge over other options in the affordable segment.

Oppo Enco W51 review verdict: Should you buy it?

The OPPO Enco W51 is a good value for money proposition. OPPO manages to deliver an enjoyable and distinct experience and, in our books, that’s good enough for an under 5K price.

They are comfortable for long hours of usage and offer decent audio quality. And the Active Noise Cancellation is another added bonus. For the price, the Enco W51 are definitely worth it.

Pros

  • Comfortable fit
  • Warm and clean sound
  • Better call quality than completion
  • Wireless charging
  • ANC is added bonus.

Cons

  • Average battery life
  • No fast charging
