On Monday, OnePlus teased its upcoming smartwatch, the Watch 2, with a short video uploaded on the official OnePlus Club X handle. Now, the company has officially announced the smartwatch through a community post. It turns out the previous rumors about OnePlus releasing a new smartwatch at the Mobile World Congress 2024 were right. Here are more details about the OnePlus Watch 2: its launch date, time, and some teased features.
OnePlus Watch 2 Launch Date
Announcing the device, OnePlus mentions in the community post that it will come out on February 26, 2024, at 08:30 PM IST. The launch coincides with the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. “Aiming to win the title of the best flagship smartwatch of the year with its market-beating battery life, Watch 2 marks a significant return to the high-stakes flagship smartwatch market,” says OnePlus in the community post.
OnePlus Watch 2 Colorways And Battery Life Teased
Along with the announcement, the community post reveals that the OnePlus Watch 2 will come in two finishes: Black Steel and Radiant Steel. While the chassis is made from stainless steel, the watch also features sapphire crystal glass. In terms of battery life, the wearable seems to take the competition directly to the flagships.
OnePlus claims its upcoming smartwatch can last up to 100 hours on a single charge in the “Full Smart Mode.” While we don’t have more information about the Full Smart Mode, it looks like a special battery-optimized mode that makes the watch last longer.
For comparison, most flagship smartwatches, like the Apple Watch and the Samsung Galaxy Watch, last for around one and a half to two days on a single charge without the power saving or optimization mode. Nonetheless, that is the extent of information the community post reveals.
OnePlus Watch 2 Pre-Reserve Pass
The company has decided to sell pre-reservation passes for the upcoming wearable at Rs. 99. The benefits of purchasing this pass include a Rs. 1,000 coupon on the smartwatch’s price. Further, buyers can also get the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC at no extra cost by purchasing the OnePlus Watch 2. However, at the time of writing this article, the limited 1500 passes appeared to be sold out.
OnePlus Watch 2 Expected Specifications
Per several rumors, the smartwatch could feature a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen. Under the hood, it could feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon WS Gen 1 SoC. Further, it could be the first OnePlus Watch to run on Wear OS.
