Amongst these is the so-called ‘Reading Mode’, that facilitates a better reading experience with the help of greyscale mapping and blue light filtering. A great feature for someone who loves reading on his/her smartphone, isn’t it?

Turns out, the feature isn’t just limited to OnePlus’ s new, ambitious device, but can be made use of by just about any individual who owns a smartphone. Here’s how you can get it on your smartphone as well.

Getting the OnePlus 5 Reading Mode on Android smartphones

If you are an Android user and want the Reading Mode in your device, you need to follow these steps:

  • Go to ‘Settings

  • Scroll down to the bottom and open the ‘About’ tab

  • Tap on the ‘Build Number’ tab continuously 7 times to turn on ‘Developer Mode’.

  • Opening the developer options, click on the ‘Simulate Color Space’ tab
  • Select ‘Monochromancy’/’Monochrome’ option from the list

Getting the OnePlus 5 Reading Mode on the iOS

For obtaining the Reading Mode on the iOS devices (mind you, this is eligible only for iOS 8 and above), this is the procedure you need to follow:

  • Open ‘Display Accommodations

  • Open up the ‘Accessibility Settings’ tab

  • Choose ‘Greyscale Mode’ from the options provided there

Apart from toggling with the Developer Options, you can also make use of some third party mobile applications that are capable of changing the display temperature of your device.

For those who prefer rooted applications, there’s CF.lumen, that adjusts the phone’s lighting according to the user’s location, and also lets them set them their own custom filters, according to their needs and preferences.
