TL; DR
  • Nothing confirms Ear (3), which would be the successor to the 2024 Nothing Ear, not the Ear (2).
  • Teaser arrives through a Twitter post with the line “Ear (3). Soon.”
  • The TWS will be launching soon, possibly by the end of this month.

London-based tech brand Nothing has dropped a fresh teaser for its next flagship TWS earbuds, the Ear (3). The announcement, shared on X, is short: “Ear (3). Soon.” No specs, no date, just the product name and an image that says ear (3), on what seems to be the stem of the earbud.

Fans are excited, but also scratching their heads. Why Ear (3) and not Ear (4)? Especially since last year’s model was simply called “Nothing Ear,” meant to break away from sequential numbers. That device was technically the third generation, so the new one should’ve been the fourth. Instead, Nothing seems to be rolling the clock back.

Some believe the company wants to align its audio lineup with its smartphones. Nothing Phone (3) (review) is already here, so Ear (3) might be about consistency rather than chronology. It wouldn’t be the first time Nothing has chosen confusing product names though.

Nonetheless, this year has already been big for Nothing’s audio category. The brand launched its first over-ear model, the Headphone (1), alongside the Phone (3) back in July. Nothing has made it clear that audio is also a key focus area, and the Ear (3) looks set to carry that momentum forward.

Launch could be just around the corner

Nothing hasn’t confirmed a launch date yet, but based on past cycles, it’s safe to expect details in the coming weeks. We can expect improved controls, battery life, and maybe even better ANC. The Ear (3) should be priced around ₹12,000 in India or $149 in the US.
