On February 6, 2024, we published an exclusive render of the Nothing Phone (2a), a mid-range smartphone rumored to debut at the Mobile World Congress 2024. We procured the render from one of the most reliable tipsters in the industry, Steve H. McFly, or @OnLeaks, for those who’ve followed him on Twitter.

Nothing Phone (2a) Press Render Wasn’t Accurate

The render showcased how the phone could have a dual-camera setup on the top left and ditch the Glyph Lights overall. However, a new update from the tipster suggests that the render was incorrect after all.

Shortly after we published the story, it sparked a conversation among enthusiasts and potential buyers alike. In our previous article about how the internet reacted to the Phone (2a) press render, we mentioned that known tipster Evan Blass had a different take. He noted that the render wasn’t “Foxconn-sourced” and pointed out that the tagline matches better with one of the previous renders.

This got us curious, and we sought to double-check our sources. It turns out that we found out that the source had furnished Steve with manipulated renders.

Steve Confirms That The Render Was Manipulated

The image in the published render is of a Nothing smartphone that never came out; hence, the phone’s render didn’t surface on the internet either. However, the source claimed it belongs to the unreleased Phone (2a). As a matter of fact, the render can also be seen in one of the Nothing Phone (1) promo videos.

Last but not least, we also discovered that the furnished render looks different than the teaser Nothing uploaded on its social platforms. Hence, we’re concluding that the Phone (2a) render that we published a couple of days ago was, in fact, inaccurate.

Smartprix has always strived to provide the correct information to its readers, and so has Steve, whose leaks and tips are considered highly in the industry. However, it’s our responsibility to come out and accept if something doesn’t align with those ideals. Until we get further information on the Phone (2a) renders, consider the previous render inaccurate.

Smartprix has always been one of the most credible publications in the tech space. Previously, we’ve partnered with @OnLeaks to publish the Pixel 8 Pro and the Galaxy S24 series exclusively, which turned out to be accurate.
