[MWC 2022] MediaTek Dimensity 8000 5G Chipset Series launched

Leading Chipmaker MediaTek has launched its next Dimensity 8000 5G chipset series today at the MWC 2022. The series has 2 chipsets- Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 8100. The chipset is meant to deliver a flagship-level experience to the consumers in gaming, displays, connectivity, multimedia, and imaging capabilities.

The company has claimed that both new chipsets borrow the advanced tech from Dimensity 9000 platform and are built on an ultra-efficient TSMC 5nm production process. They integrate octa-core CPU.

MediaTek Dimensity 8000 chipset series

It has 4 premium Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.85GHz, and the Dimensity 8000 chipset has 4 premium Arm-Cortex-78 cores clocked at up to 2.75GHz. Deputy Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit said that 8000 Series is the little brother of the Dimensity 9000 platform. They have all flagship features.

Both 8000 series chipsets combine an Arm Mali-G610 MC6 GPU with MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technologies for delivering exceptional power efficiency, which can increase the playtime and bring the best frame rates- 170fps for the Dimensity 8100 and 140fps for 8000 chipsets.

Both the SoCs support quad-channel LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage ensuring ultra-fast data streams. The chipsets are powered by a 5 gigapixel per second image signal processor (ISP) which will make sure that the devices produce clear HDR photos and videos in their class. Other features of MediaTek 8000 series chips are-

  • Support for up to 200MP cameras and 4K60 HDR10+ photography.
  • MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave 2.0 power-saving enhancement suite for improved efficiency.
  • Leading 3GPP R16-ready 5G modem to boost sub-6GHz performance using 2CC Carrier Aggregation.
