Moto G84 made its debut last year with the Snapdragon 695 SoC. Its upcoming successor – the Moto G85, was recently spotted on a European retailer’s database with a price tag of EUR300. Cut to now, the phone has made its presence on Geekbench sporting a Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 SoC which is yet to be announced.

Successor to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 onboard Moto G85 managed to score 939 points on single-core and 2092 points on multi-core tests. Once released, it will be the first chipset in its series to be fabbed on a 4nm process that should introduce a performance boost.

Moto G85

As of now, when comparing Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 to Snapdragon 695, the former manages to stay a tad bit above the latter in most cases except GPU performance. It was the first chipset to be fabbed on a 4nm node in this series and SD4 Gen 3 SoC will carry on the legacy as well. The recent Geekbench scores are along the lines of SD4 Gen 2 SoC hinting at just an incremental update although it remains to be seen once the chipset is officially announced.

Coming back to Moto G85, the phone features 8GB of RAM although a higher 12GB RAM variant will be available as per the previous European retailer listing. The chipset appears to be clocked at 2.30GHz max frequency and in a 2+6 configuration. There’s an Adreno 619 GPU on board as well. There’s Android 14 starting from day one and of course, this is Moto we are talking about, it will be in its A-game w.r.t. the software updates.

To refresh, Moto G84 had a 6.55” FHD+ pOLED 120Hz panel. There’s a 50MP OIS plus an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera at the back. The phone carries a Snapdragon 695 SoC paired with a 5000mAh battery and 30W fast charging tech.
