TL; DR (tap to expand)
  • Apple has hinted that the price hikes announced this week may not be the last.
  • The company recently increased prices across several iPads, Macs, MacBooks, HomePods, and Apple TV models in India and other markets.
  • iPhones, Apple Watch models, and AirPods have avoided price hikes so far, though that may not remain the case for long.

Apple may not be done raising prices just yet. Shortly after announcing substantial price increases across much of its product lineup, Apple suggested that more hikes could follow in the coming months.

In a statement shared with multiple publications, the company said it has reached a point where it needs to “begin raising prices” on a number of products, language that strongly suggests this week’s increases are only the first phase.

Apple cited the ongoing memory shortage as the primary reason behind the price adjustments. The company says demand from AI data centers has pushed RAM and NAND prices to unprecedented levels, making memory and storage components significantly more expensive than before.

Brutal Price Hikes on Apple Products

This week, Apple increased prices for nearly all of its iPads, Macs, MacBooks, HomePods, and Apple TV models. In India, the increases have been particularly steep.

The base iPad now starts at ₹49,990, up from ₹34,990, while the iPad Air now costs ₹89,900, compared to its earlier starting price of ₹64,900. The iPad Pro has also jumped to ₹1,39,900, up from ₹99,990. The iPad mini also jumped from ₹49,990 to ₹69,990.

Mac prices have climbed as well. The Mac mini M4 now starts at ₹94,900, a sharp increase from ₹59,900, while the iMac M4 now costs ₹1,74,900. Apple’s high-end desktops have seen even larger jumps, with the Mac Studio M4 Max going from ₹2,14,900 to ₹2,79,900, and the top-end Mac Studio M3 Ultra now starting at ₹5,99,900, up sharply from ₹4,29,900.

MacBook prices have also gone up across the board. The MacBook Air M5 now starts at ₹1,49,900, while the MacBook Pro M5 starts at ₹2,39,900. The top-end MacBook Pro M5 Max now costs ₹4,99,900. The low-end MacBook Neo also now starts at ₹79,900, instead of ₹69,900.

Apple’s home products have not been spared either. The HomePod now costs ₹44,900, up from ₹32,900, while the HomePod mini has gone from ₹10,900 to ₹15,900. The Apple TV 4K (64GB) now starts at ₹25,900, compared to ₹14,900 previously.

More Price Hikes Could Be On the Way

Interestingly, Apple’s latest statement suggests products that escaped this round of price hikes, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, could see price increases in the future. The company has not confirmed which products will be affected or when those changes could happen.

The timing is significant, especially with the iPhone 18 series, new Apple Watches, and refreshed AirPods expected later this year. While Apple has reportedly decided against increasing iPhone prices in some markets such as the US, the situation could be different in countries like India, where prices have historically seen periodic revisions. Apple’s official statement:

“The consumer electronics industry is facing an unprecedented challenge. The rapid expansion of AI data centers has created an extraordinary surge in demand for memory and storage. We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly. We have shielded our customers from these increases so far, but we have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on a number of products, including today’s increases for iPad and Mac. We know this is not welcome news, and we are working tirelessly to find solutions.”

Prices Aren’t Going Down Anytime Soon

The broader memory market also doesn’t appear to be easing anytime soon. Several industry reports suggest that elevated DRAM and NAND prices could continue well into 2027 as AI infrastructure spending remains high. As a result, consumers may need to prepare for higher prices across more categories of consumer electronics over the next year.
