TL; DR
- Regulatory filings suggest an impending price hike by Maruti Suzuki.
- Though the exact hike a model gets will vary, the company has decided to increase the prices due to rising operational expenses and input costs.
- The company has already increased the prices of its vehicles in January and February.
The largest automaker in the country (by volume), Maruti Suzuki, is about to increase the prices of its vehicles once again. Previously, the company hiked its prices in January, followed by another revision in February. Taking them into account, this will be the third time the company has changed the prices of its vehicle, and it’s not in favor of Indian buyers.

The Company Has Already Hiked Prices In January And February

According to a report by rushlane.com, which cites a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Maruti Suzuki could hike the prices of its passenger vehicles by another 4% (over the revised rates of February 2025).
Though the exact hike a model gets will vary, the company has decided to increase the prices due to rising operational expenses and input costs. Back in January, the automaker announced an increase in prices by up to 4%, which is expected from every manufacturer (as part of the annual price hike pattern we’ve seen over the years).
However, the company announced yet another revision in February, which further increased the prices of affordable vehicles like Alto K10 and Celerio by up to Rs. 19,500 and Rs. 32,500, respectively. These are often the first cars purchased by individuals with low incomes. Nonetheless, the prices for popular models like Dzire, Brezza, Baleno, and Grand Vitara were also increased.

March Could Be The Third Consecutive Month Of Price Hikes
As and when the company announced another price hike, it would be its third consecutive month of doing so. The primary reason behind the revision is the increase in costs of raw materials like electronic components, aluminum, and steel. Despite multiple price hikes, Maruti Suzuki has had no significant impact on sales.
In February 2025, Fronx became the most selling car across the country, while other offerings occupied multiple positions in the top 10. Given that models like Alto K10 and Celerio have no direct (or strong) competition, the company might be able to pull off another price hike.
However, India is a price-conscious market. Until now, Maruti’s primary advantage over its rivals was affordability. But in the future, consumers might consider other manufacturers if the company’s vehicles start to cost more than the competition (which often provides better offers and higher discounts). There’s a chance that other manufacturers might announce a price hike as well.
