Lenovo’s Modular Phones Moto Z And Moto Z Play with Moto Mods Launched In India

Lenovo-owned Motorola has finally docked its much-anticipated flagship modular smartphone the Moto Z and budget-friendly Moto Z Play at Indian shores. Along with these phones, their magnetic attachments called Mods have also been launched in India. The Moto Z is priced at Rs. 39,999 and Moto Z Play at Rs. 24,999 will be available at Amazon.in and Flipkart.com from 17 October onwards.

The Moto Z Features

The Moto Z sports a metal body and the highlight of the phone is its much talked about semi-modular design. External module aka Moto Mods mount to the 16 Magnetic pogo pins at the rear for additional capabilities. The list of available Mods includes JBL SoundBoost, InstaShare Mod, PowerPack and Hasselblad True Zoom camera.moto-z-us-launch

In terms of specification, the Moto Z features a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with running a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.Under the hood, it houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz. It employs an Andreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM for multitasking. There is also 32GB and 64GB storage options along with a microSD card slot to further expand the onboard memory.

The Moto Z bears a 13-megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, and dual tone flash. Up front, it has a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It features water-repellent coating. It lacks 3.5mm audio jack and uses USB Type-C port to connect headphones. It comes running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and backed by a 2600mAh battery with turbo charge support.

On the other hand, the budget-friendly Moto Z Play supports the entire portfolio of MotMod accessories and comes with a capacious 3510mAh battery and 3.5mm a headphone jack. The Moto Z Play has a glass panel on both front and back which is fitted to the metal frame. It flaunts a 5.5-inch 1080P AMOLED display and a home button that’s also the fingerprint sensor. Under the hood, it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 which has eight Cortex – A53 cores, clocked up to 2GHz.
