JioPhone Next launching this Diwali: 5 Key Points you should know about it

It has already been announced that Reliance Jio in partnership with Google is about to launch its made-for-India ‘Jio Phone Next’ on September 10. Chairman Mukesh Ambani had said that the JioPhone Next will be available on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and will be the most affordable smartphone not just in India, but globally too. Well, its launch has been pushed back to Diwali 2021. This is an ambitious product for Jio as it aims to make India ‘2G-mukt’ (free of 2G).

Jio Phone is expected to launch with Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 processor which supports 4G networks and will be launched in different colors, including the blue variant whose pictures have been revealed.

Ahead of the big launch, here are 5 key things you need to know about it

  1. Jio Phone next is powered by an optimized version of the Android operating system that has been developed by Jio and Google especially for the Indian market. Jio will now also use Google cloud as announced by Mukesh Ambani and Sundar Pichai.
  2. JioPhone Next is said to have smartphone features like voice assistant, language translation, automatic read-aloud of screen text, and a smart camera. Translation in various languages is also available at the tap of a button along with reading the text back in one’s language.
  3. JioPhone Next might come with an estimated price of Rs. 3499 though Reliance is likely to give more exciting offers to cut the price down.
  4. The device may have a 5.5-inch display with HD resolution. Jio is expected to offer a choice between 2GB and 3GB Ram variants. As for storage options, it might have a 16GB variant and a 32GB variant.
  5. The smartphone is said to be equipped with a high-quality camera that will give clear photos at night and in low light. Google has also collaborated with Snap (parent company of photo-sharing app Snapchat) to integrate India-specific lenses into the phone’s camera.

With analysts suggesting that JioPhone Next is Reliance’s attempt to surge past the 500-million subscriber mark, it remains to be seen that how strong of ground can this new smartphone hold in the consumer’s market.
