- Moreover, the feature “works as a way to catch up” if someone has missed the original content uploaded by their friends.

The Meta-owned social media platform Instagram is testing a new feature that shows users the content from their friends that they might have missed in the constant flow of content on the app. Apparently, the app showcases unseen Story Highlights at the end of the Stories section (after all the fresh Stories are put up by Instagrammers).

Instagram Story Highlights Feature To Help Users Catch Up With Others
It is important to mention here that the feature was first spotted by Ahmed Ghanem, a social media expert, who shared about it on his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account. The feature “displays highlights from profiles you follow as Stories,” Ghanem writes in his post.
Moreover, the feature “works as a way to catch up” if someone has missed the original content uploaded by their friends. We see how the feature could help people see missed highlights from their friends in an easy yet effective manner. Since Instagram is flooded with content from friends, family, and creators, it is fairly easy to miss some updates from the ones that matter.
However, The Feature Only Shows Up Once You’ve Seen All The Fresh Stories
However, the catch is that the app will only showcase the Story Highlights when you’ve exhausted all the available Stories from the people added to your Instagram. If you follow a lot of people, you might not get to the end of the Stories section, and as a result, the Story Highlights feature might not work for you.
Also, note that the feature doesn’t showcase regular Stories you might have missed from friends; only the recent Highlights that are available to view on the user’s profile will appear as part of the Story Highlights feature. Moreover, the feature focuses on increasing the reach of organic content shared by your family and friends.
