The race of foldable phones is one that every smartphone giant wants to participate in. Users from around the world are appreciating the relatively new form factor. While the South Korean tech giant Samsung clearly has the upper hand, other companies like Google, Motorola, and Xiaomi are catching up. The most recent company to change gears in the race is the Chinese manufacturer Honor. Earlier this month, the company revealed its second foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V2. Now, the maker has released the Honor V Purse.

Honor V Purse Design

Although we’ve seen tablet-like foldable smartphones in the past, the Honor V Purse has a unique design element. Like rectangular purses or handbags with a string over the shoulder, the V Purse allows users to attach a metallic chain and wear it around their neck or carry it in their hand, like a purse. Some images show that a particular casing with one hook at each end lets users pair a fashionable string. Other than that, the Honor V Purse is available in Black, Blue, and Golden.

Honor V Purse Specifications

The foldable features a 7.71-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 401 ppi. The secondary display on the smartphone is a 6.45-inch OLED panel. Both screens have a 90Hz refresh rate, support a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and have a PWM dimming rate of 2,160Hz. Interestingly, one uninterrupted panel doubles as the secondary screen when folded.

Under the hood, the Honor V Purse runs on the Snapdragon 778G 5G (6nm) chipset, a mid-range octa-core chipset, alongside 16GB of RAM and two storage options (256GB and 512GB). Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2.

Regarding cameras, the Honor V Purse has a 50MP (f/1.9) primary sensor and a 12MP (f/2.2, 120-degrees) ultra-wide sensor. Video recording through the main cameras is restricted to 4K at 30 frames per second, while the 8MP (f/2.0) sensor can record in 1080p at 30 frames per second. Powering the smartphone is a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 35W wired fast charging.

When folded, the foldable measures 156.6 x 74.7 x 8.6mm, while unfolded, the phone measures 156.6 x 135.6 x 4.3mm.

Honor V Purse Price

In China, the 256GB base variant of the smartphone costs CNY 5,999, roughly about Rs. 68,000, while the 512GB top model costs CNY 6,599, roughly about Rs. 75,000. Honor is yet to announce the global availability of the smartphone.
