As the tech world eagerly anticipates Google’s upcoming hardware launch event on October 4th, the company continues to tantalize consumers with sneak peeks of its latest offerings. In a recent teaser video, Google unveiled the much-anticipated Pixel Watch 2, showcasing design enhancements and notable new features. Google India also confirmed its availability in India via a post on X.

While the focus has largely been on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel Watch 2’s design differences have remained a well-guarded secret until now. The teaser video provides an exciting first look at what Google has in store for smartwatch enthusiasts. Along with the video, Google India mentioned that Pixel Watch 2 will be available on Exclusively on Flipkart starting October 5th.

Sensor Array Redesign

The most striking difference is the redesign of the sensor array. In contrast to the original Pixel Watch’s border of EKG electrodes and a thin pill-shaped array housing rectangular optical sensors, the Pixel Watch 2 boasts a more circular design with smaller LEDs. Rumors suggest that the Pixel Watch 2 will include the Sense 2’s continuous electrodermal activity sensor, possibly driving the need for this redesign.

Enhanced Water and Dust Resistance

Another noteworthy improvement is the watch’s enhanced water resistance. While the original Pixel Watch had a “water resistance of 50m” rating, the Pixel Watch 2 teases an IP68 rating. This rating not only implies improved water resistance but also a level of dust resistance, making it a more versatile choice for active users.

Crown Design

The teaser video also reveals a refined crown design that sits more flush with the screen. This design change contributes to a sleeker overall appearance, showcasing Google’s commitment to both form and function.

Software and Internal Upgrades

Despite the familiar design, Google hints that major upgrades for the Pixel Watch 2 may come from software enhancements and internal components. Notably, the watch is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Plus platform, a step up from Samsung’s last-gen Exynos chip used in the original Pixel Watch.

Excitement is building as Google announces that preorders for the Pixel Watch 2 will begin on October 4th, coinciding with its grand Pixel event. With the official unveiling just around the corner, tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting more details about this highly anticipated smartwatch.

Stay tuned for comprehensive coverage of Google’s Made by Google launch event on October 4th, where the Pixel Watch 2 and other cutting-edge products will be officially introduced to the world.
