Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the battery life on the Garmin Forerunner 165?
You can expect up to 11 days of battery in smartwatch mode, which is plenty for a full week of training. If you're out for a long run with GPS active, it lasts about 19 hours, or roughly 7 hours if you're also streaming music from the watch.
Is the Garmin Forerunner 165 screen easy to read in bright sunlight?
Yes, it features a vibrant 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen that is incredibly sharp and easy to read even in direct Indian sunlight. It also offers an Always-On mode, though keeping that active will reduce your total battery life.
Can I use the Garmin Forerunner 165 for swimming in India?
Absolutely! It has a 5 ATM water rating, meaning it's safe for pool swimming and open water. It even includes a dedicated 'Open Water Swim' profile, which uses GPS to track your distance and stroke rate in lakes or the sea.
Does the Garmin Forerunner 165 track sleep and naps?
Yes, it includes advanced sleep monitoring and Nap Detection, which automatically logs your daytime snoozes to show how they affect your 'Body Battery' energy levels. It also provides a Morning Report every day to summarize your recovery and weather.
Does the Garmin Forerunner 165 Smartwatch have an altimeter for trekking?
Yes, it has a built-in Barometric Altimeter, which is a big upgrade over older budget models. This allows you to track elevation gain and 'Floors Climbed' accurately, making it a great companion for hill runs or weekend treks in the Western Ghats.
Does it have GPS and can it show maps for navigation?
It has very accurate built-in GPS for tracking your runs, but it does not show full topographical maps. Instead, it uses 'Breadcrumb Navigation,' which shows your path as a line on a black background to help you follow a pre-loaded course.
