Google Nest Hub smart display launched in India at Rs. 9,999

Originally named Home Hub, the Google Nest Hub has launched in the country. It is a popular pick amongst Smart Displays and will take on the Amazon Echo Show (review). You can connect it to over 200 million devices from more than 3,500 brands, including the likes of LG, Xiaomi, Phillips Hue, Syska, Tp-Link, Oakter, and others.

The main highlight would still be the underlying Google Assistant, touchscreen display and the presence of native speakers. Let’s dive deeper into its features.

Needless to say, it comes powered with the Google Assistant. So, you can control the intricate ecosystem of devices with your voice. The assistant gets triggered by your voice commands and you can command it to make a quick Google search, browse videos on Youtube or glance over your photo library.

Interestingly enough, you can train it with different voices and personalize your individual experience. It lets you configure Routines, which are the predefined course of actions that starts at your voice command.

You can also interact with its touchscreen display (7-inch panel with a resolution of 1024×600-pixels). The ambient light sensor on top lets you adjust the brightness and the color dynamics of the display. For instance, in a dark room, you can set it to fully turn off the display.

Google has included a tiny speaker, which can be complemented by additional speakers wired or wirelessly.

You get to customize the display with backgrounds from multiple web sources and choose from any of the eight preset clock faces.

Google aims to up the productivity quotient in your lives with the new Digital Wellbeing feature. This will regulate your digital consumption to a degree. Unlike the Amazon Echo Show, here you get a basic software while most of the features can be controlled via the Google Home app on your phone.

Nest Hub can be used as a Chromecast device too for the most part, save for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video content. Speaking of content, Google has partnered with a suite of providers such as Spotify, Saavn, Gaana, Wynk, and NDTV.

Rest, Google Nest Hub supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0.

In India, Google Nest Hub is priced at Rs. 9,999 and will be available in Chalk and Charcoal colors through Flipkart, Tata Cliq, Croma, and Reliance Digital. In contrast, the rival from Amazon (Echo Show 5) costs around Rs. 8,999 in India.

As an introductory offer, you get Xiaomi’s Mi Security Camera as bundled, which would otherwise cost you Rs. 1,799. This is a limited time offer applicable on Flipkart and Tata Cliq purchase.
