Google’s second-generation Pixel smartphones show near-perfection when it comes to camera performance. One of the stand-out features of the new Pixel 2 is its ability to click amazing portrait images or images with blurred background with its single rear and front camera.

The key here is Google’s software magic, which can now be extended to other Pixel devices. You can now port Google’s camera to 2015 and 2016 series of Google devices namely Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X.

How To get Pixel 2 portrait mode on other Google smartphones:

To add portrait mode to Google-made Pixel range (2016), the Nexus 5X, and the Nexus 6P, all you have to do is download the third-party app named Camera NX V7.3. The app will unlock exclusive Pixel 2 camera features on these devices.

The app was reported by Chrome loop, which says that it is a Google Camera mod. It defines portrait mode as a hardware limiting feature, which requires a special type of image data processor called PD (Pixel detector). Also, this app will replace the Lens Blur mode, in the earlier smartphones, with Portrait Mode.

Camera NX version 7.3 offers the face retouching feature for images clicked from both the front and the back camera. It does need a human face to offer the ‘Portrait mode’ feature and will provide a regular image otherwise.

The app will provide two images, one with the portrait effect and a regular, HDR+ image. The new APK has been tested on the Nexus 5X and is expected to work on other mentioned models as well.
