Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatches with updated specs and Google’s Wear OS Launched in India

With the aim of capturing the premium wearable market segment in India, US-based fashion brand Fossil has launched its latest generation wearable, Fossil Gen 6 which comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+. The touchscreen smartwatch has a 44mm case that comes in four colorways and a 42mm case which is out in three colorways.

Fossil Gen 6: Features

There is two sizes of its circular dial, one in 42mm and one in 44mm, each housing a 1.28-inch (416×416 pixels) color AMOLED touchscreen with 326ppi. According to Fossil, the watch will be upgradeable to Wear OS 3 by 2022, while it is currently running Wear OS 2. This device is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 4100+ SoC and features 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It is claimed that the processor will boost performance by 30 percent over their predecessor – the Fossil Gen 5 – and allow apps to load faster and consume less power.

It also comes with health monitoring features such as a heart rate monitor that keeps track of your heart rate “continuously and accurately” and a blood oxygen sensor (SpO2). Other sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, altimeter, off-body IR sensor, and ambient light sensor.

With Extended Battery Mode, the Fossil Gen 6 is said to have a battery life of more than 24 hours or multiple days. The smartwatch can also be charged up to 80 percent in approximately half an hour, according to Fossil. Moreover, the smartwatch can withstand the water pressure of 3 ATMs (30 meters).

This smartwatch is equipped with 4 pin USB connectivity with a magnetic puck, as well as Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC SE. It supports fast charging with a magnetic charging cable. It is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones and can make and receive calls. Additionally, it supports Google Assistant.

Fossil Gen 6: Price and Availability

The Gen 6 is priced between Rs 23,995 and Rs 24,995 and will be available from September 27 onwards, online via fossil.in and through exclusive distribution partner Amazon and offline via select retail stores. The Gen 6 is available for pre-order from 25th September at www.fossil.in.
