One of the innovation leaders in the smartphone industry, vivo, is preparing to make a move that will shake up the flagship segment. Leaks that have long been the talk of the tech world have now been confirmed by new entries in the GSMA IMEI database. This development not only confirms the arrival of a new phone but also marks a strategic rebranding for vivo.

vivo X500 series consists of 3 different models

Leaked database entries indicate that Vivo plans to expand its lineup this year. The models confirmed so far are as follows:

  • vivo X500: The cornerstone of the series and a contender for the compact flagship.
  • vivo X500 Pro: The flagship model featuring a blend of the most advanced features.
  • vivo X500e: The third option newly added to the series, likely offering a more balanced price-to-performance ratio.

Tetraphobia and the Name Change: The Leap from X300 to X500

Many users are asking, “What happened to the X400 series?” The belief that the number “4” is unlucky (tetraphobia), prevalent in many Asian cultures, particularly in China, directly influences the naming policies of tech giants. Vivo, adhering to this tradition, skipped the X400 name entirely. IMEI database records have officially confirmed that the direct successor to the currently available X300 series will be the X500.

Leaked Technical Details: Performance That Pushes the Limits

The devices’ appearance in the database has further confirmed the accuracy of the hardware leaks. Here are the revolutionary features expected from the Vivo X500 series:

  • Display Technology: While the standard model is expected to feature a more compact and user-friendly 6.37-inch panel, the Pro model is said to include a massive 6.83-inch 2K LTPO OLED display. All models are likely to come with high-end features such as a 144Hz refresh rate and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
  • 2nm Architecture and Dimensity 9600: On the performance front, Vivo is taking its collaboration with MediaTek to the next level. The series is expected to be equipped with the Dimensity 9600, one of the first processors produced using TSMC’s 2nm manufacturing process. This translates not only to speed but also to incredible energy efficiency and AI performance.
  • Camera and LOFIC Sensor: The X series, which sets the standard in photography, is transitioning to “LOFIC” technology with the X500. This sensor technology, particularly in the Pro model, will prevent details from being lost even in very bright light, delivering a flawless dynamic range. Additionally, the 200 MP periscope telephoto lens is expected to set a new record for mobile zoom capabilities.
  • Battery and Charging: Leaks suggest the devices may feature massive batteries capable of reaching up to 7,000 mAh and support for 100W fast charging.

Being added to the GSMA IMEI database indicates that a device is now ready for release to the end user. Industry analyses and leaks suggest that the vivo X500 series will be unveiled with a grand launch in China in September or October 2026, followed by its release in global markets.

With its naming strategy and ambitious hardware, the vivo X500 series is poised to be one of the most talked-about technological events of 2026.
