Although Samsung hasn’t yet released the official version of One UI 7.0, we’ve found some clues to confirm that the brand is working on One UI 8.0. Yes, this may come as a surprise. We made some important discoveries by analyzing the official One UI 7 beta apps released by Samsung. One UI 8 will add support for a decal shader to the One UI Launcher. This can make icons, animations look more beautiful. Also, Samsung could add a decal shader to adapt the surface properties (e.g. texture) of wallpapers to icons and other 3rd party apps.

Meet Samsung’s One UI 8.0 interface!

The Galaxy S25 series and One UI 7 have yet to be officially unveiled. Nevertheless, Samsung continues to work on their next products. The brand is working on One UI 8.0, the next version of the One UI interface used in smartphones and many other areas. Our mysterious discovery in Samsung’s system apps reveals the first clues related to One UI 8.0.

Samsung may be secretly testing the Android 16 update. One UI 8 is expected to be based on Android 16, and each new One UI release is based on the next Android version. Perhaps this decal shader support is being added to the One UI launcher with Android 16. Given that Android 16 will be released earlier than previous Android versions, there’s a good chance that this is true. The information related to One UI 8’s support for decal shader comes from official Samsung apps. Therefore, you can trust us.

As mentioned above, the Decal shader can be used for icons, new animations to be added, and more. For now, we can confirm that Samsung is officially developing One UI 8.0 and that the decal shader will be added to the One UI launcher. One UI 8.0 will be gradually released to select Samsung smartphones, including the Galaxy S25, S24, S23, and S22 series. While we can’t yet officially confirm all the devices that will receive the next One UI update, there is a 100% chance that the indicated devices will receive One UI 8.0.

The early release of Android 16 may have accelerated Samsung’s work on One UI 8.0. After all, One UI 8 will be based on Android 16. One UI 7 user interface based on Android 15. Users may be surprised to hear leaks about One UI 8.0, as One UI 7.0 has only been released on 3 smartphones so far.

Smartphone manufacturers continue to improve their products to provide the best experience. Besides that, we can expect Xiaomi to start developing HyperOS 3.0 internally in the coming months. In addition, brands such as Oppo, Vivo, and Oneplus will test their next interfaces with Android 16 and many brands will launch Android 16 Beta Testing Programs.

A few months ago, rumors emerged that Android 16 will have the codename “baklava”. Baklava is a type of dessert that belongs to the Turks and is very delicious. Google’s choice of the codename “baklava” in the next Android version may have delighted people who love this dessert. The Android 16’s stable version is expected to be released in Q2 2025 and we will be eagerly waiting to experience the new Android version.
