TL; DR

  • OnePlus Watch 3 to get major upgrades, including a Rotating Crown, and ECG support.
  • The Watch is set to launch globally in Q1 2025.
  • The Watch 3 will feature a design similar to that of the current model and come in two color options.

OnePlus has just kicked off its campaign for the OnePlus 13 series smartphones due to launch on January 7th. However, the company has been quiet about its upcoming wearable product. Behind the scenes, OnePlus has been working on the next-generation smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 3.

Our sources, Chunvn & Yogesh Brar, have provided us with quite a few details about the OnePlus Watch 3, which is set to launch in global markets in Q1 2025.

So, what’s new in the OnePlus Watch 3?

While the design is expected to be similar to the OnePlus Watch 2, the new model will introduce a significant change: a rotary dial. This can be seen in the render below, which was created based on a prototype of the Watch 3. This dial, reminiscent of the Digital Crown on Apple Watches, is a feature OnePlus fans have long awaited. It will offer a more intuitive way to navigate the UI, providing a tactile experience that complements the touchscreen.

Another notable upgrade is the enhanced heart rate sensor suite, which will include ECG functionality (availability subject to select markets). This feature, seen on other premium smartwatches, will be available depending on local laws.

OnePlus is also exploring LTE connectivity options for the Watch 3, allowing it to function independently of a smartphone. This would enable users to make calls and receive notifications without their phones. We’ve seen this on OPPO Watches in China, so this LTE model might be limited to that market.

Finally, the OnePlus Watch 3 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage. It is expected to run on the latest WearOS 5 + RTOS and have a 500mAh+ battery.
