Last night Microsoft unleashed a lot for fans and loyalist to rejoice and be excited about. Besides what was expected and awaited, there were quite a few surprises. The end result was an array of well built and desirable gadgets, we can’t wait to lay hands on. Here is a recap of the event and five important things Microsoft announced.

The Surface Book – Microsoft’s first Laptop

The most surprising, intriguing and mouth-watering device Microsoft showcased last night was their first Surface laptop. Naturally the new Surface book is high on specs, with 267ppi, 13.5-inch display, 6th gen Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GPU, 16GB of RAM and 12-hour battery life. Microsoft claims it is twice as fast as Apple’s iPad Pro!

Besides powerful innards we are more impressed by its slim, svelte, covetable design. The screen can be detached and used as a productive tablet and the new dynamic fulcrum hinges also allow it to be inserted backwards. A stylus has also been included.  Take a look at the product video below.

Surface Pro 4 – More refined successor

The Surface Pro 4 is the new Microsoft hybrid tablet, which improves on critically acclaimed Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Updated hardware makes it 30 percent faster, but the real difference is the refined design. Microsoft has also improved the keyboard (which you will still have to purchase separately for $130) and the capacitive stylus.

The keyboard has broader keys with improved travel and the new Pen benefits from more comfortable design and an eraser on top. You can pre-order Surface Pro 4 starting today starting at $899.

Microsoft Band – A curved display and 11 advanced sensors

The new Microsoft fitness tracker flaunts a much improved, slimmer design with a curved AMOLED display and metallic accent, and also lets you check your emails, besides monitoring heart rate, exercise, calories burnt, sleep quality and the maximum amount of oxygen your body can use during exercise.

The ‘advanced sensors’ let it know whether you are running, cycling or golfing. Taking a leaf out of Android Wear book, Microsoft Band comes integrated with Cortana and can take voice commands from Windows 8.1+ users. The data syncs with Microsoft Health app, and can also be shared on other platforms. It will be available in stores soon for $249.

Lumia 950 and 950 XL – The Promised Flagships

Microsoft delivers the promised Windows Phone flagships to platform loyalists after a long time. The new Lumia 950 and 950 XL have hardware prowess necessary to make Windows 10 and all its features meaningful at user end. A sharp display, powerful processor, PureView Cameras, premium build and the latest software – Its all there.

Microsoft also demonstrated its continuum feature at the event. This leverages the biggest strength of Windows ecosystem, its desktop user-base, and lets you attach a monitor and peripherals to your Windows 10 smartphone for a PC like experience. Office apps scale perfectly to the larger display.
