Disney+ India Launch To Happen on 3rd April; Prices Revealed for VIP, Premium Subscriptions

Disney+ India launch was first slated for 29th March, along with the start of IPL (Indian Premier League) 2020 season. With COVID-19 pandemic forcing a delay in IPLseason the company decided to postpone the Disney+ launch in India. Finally, a weeks gap, the company has today revealed that the Disney+ services will officially launch in India on 3rd April.

Unlike the global launch, in India, Disney+ won’t have a standalone app. Instead, the company will be rebranding Hotstar as Disney+ Hotstar. With this, one your Hotstar app will have most of the Disney curated content apart from Hotstar’s existing catalogue of shows, movies, live sporting events and live tv.

Disney+ Hostar will arrive with a refreshed app and website design, which we already got to see during the beta testing earlier this month. We have still attached a couple of screenshots showing off the new design. This new service will also launch with fresh and slightly more exorbitant subscription plans.

New Disney+ Hotstar Subscription Plans

While the logo has changed, the plans remain the same for the existing users until they are due for renewal. For others, Disney+ Hotstar will offer you to choose between Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium plans. New subscribers or subscribers who are due for renewal will now have to shell out:

  • Rs. 399 for Disney+ Hotstar VIP
  • Rs. 1,499 for Disney+ Hotstar Premium

What’s the difference between Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium you may ask?

Well to Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscribers will get unrestricted access to live sports,
Marvel Cinematic Universe, a host of Hotstar Originals, and recent Bollywood movies.

Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscribers, on the other hand, everything which is available for Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscriber plus 100 series and 250 superhero and animated titles, including Disney+ Originals, and shows from HBO, Fox, and Showtime.
