There is no official announcement as of now about who will manufacturer Nexus device or devices this year. But since January rumors have suggested the possibility of HTC made Nexus this year. Now as per the new media reports that have surfaced, HTC and Alphabet (aka Google) have inked a 3 year deal to partner in manufacturing Nexus devices.

If this is true, it won’t be the first time that these two companies work in close proximity to manufacturer a Nexus phone. The very first edition of Nexus, which was launched in January 2010, was co-developed by HTC and Google.

Last year, Google banked upon Huawei and LG to manufacture Nexus phones for it. Huawei took pride in manufacturing Nexus 6P (review) while LG got a pat on its back for the Nexus 5X (review) and its long association with Alphabet for Nexus devices. However, this year, LG has made an official statement that it won’t be manufacturing Nexus 5X successor for Google as it will be focusing on its own brand.

If rumored claims are accurate, then this will be the first time that Google has inked a three-year deal with the same smartphone manufacturer for its Nexus program. This is definitely good news for HTC, which has been posting terrible revenue figures lately.
