Known for its audio products, the leading consumer audio brand, BoAt, has launched Airdopes 800 TWS Buds in India. The boAt Airdopes 800 is the first TWS in this segment to be powered by Dolby Atmos. It has features like titanium drivers, long battery life, boAt Hearables app support, low latency mode, and more. All this for a price under Rs. 2000 makes it look like a great deal, but in a competitive segment, will boAt Airdopes 800 be able to carve a niche for itself? I have been using boAt Airdopes 800 for about a week now and will try to answer this question through our review.

boAt Airdopes 800 Price and Availability
boAt Airdopes 800 are available for Rs. 1799 via Amazon, Flipkart, and the boAt India website. These are available in four hues- Interstellar Black, Interstellar Blue, Interstellar Green, and Interstellar White.
boAt Airdopes 800 Review: Design and Fit
The boAt Airdopes 800 are just some of the compact earbuds that we will see in the market. The buds are nestled inside a cuboidal-shaped case that looks like a briefcase. Although the case can easily be opened and closed with one finger, with a weight of 45 grams and slightly larger dimensions, it makes its presence felt when slipped into a pocket or held in hand. It is better to keep this one in your bag or purse. In terms of looks, the case looks super cute and doesn’t catch dirt or smudges, as it has a matte finish. It comes in four colors- Interstellar Black, Interstellar Blue, Interstellar Green, and Interstellar White. I received the black variant, which looks promising.
The case is made of plastic and sports boAt branding and Dolby Atmos text on the top of the lid. At the front is an LED light indicator, while on the right is a USB port for charging. Inside the box, between the buds, is a button for pairing and reset. The case’s hinge is strong and gives a snappy response, making sure buds are safe inside it.
Talking about buds now, these are nestled in glossy cutouts inside the case. The rest of the inside case has a matte finish and as mentioned above pairing button is between the two cutouts. Each earbud has boAt branding along with a wave-shaped character line on the outer side. There are notification lights and two mics on each bud. These have an in-ear design and are comfortable to wear for long durations.
The stems of the buds are longer than the standard size, which improves the grip of the buds inside the ears. The touch controls work well and can be customized using the boAt Hearables application. The buds are durable, with an IPX5 rating for dust and water resistance. This ensured that the buds worked fine during sweaty workouts or when it was drizzling.

boAt Airdopes 800 Review: Connectivity, Control & Features
boAt Airdopes 800 is compatible with the boAt Hearables app and can be downloaded for free via the Play Store and iOS store. The app needs you to register yourself or sign in through Gmail ID before it starts working, which sometimes irritates you. After you are signed in, enable your device’s Bluetooth and keep the buds inside the case with the lid open. The TWS will connect to the app within seconds. The first time when you want to pair it, you will have to press the pairing button inside the case for a few seconds. Once paired, you just have to open the case, and the buds will connect to the device, provided Bluetooth is on.
The boAt Hearables application offers various options for customizing audio. One can set up adaptive EQ for unique hearing IDs, and five equalizer options are available- Jazz, Club, Pop, Rock, and Balanced. Equalizer can’t be customized via the app. There are two profile options for Dolby Atmos- Natural and Movie. You can also customize touch controls for the buds using the app. The app also displays the battery levels for buds, and you can enable functions like multipoint connectivity and in-ear detection using the app. These work fine, which is impressive for a TWS under 2000.
Advanced features like Multipoint connection and in-ear detection are nice to have in this segment.

boAt Airdopes 800 Review: Sound & ANC
boAt Airdopes 800 are equipped with two high-fidelity 10mm titanium drivers. It is the first in the segment to feature Dolby Atmos technology along with features like Bluetooth 5.3, which makes connecting it to any device seamless.
The earbuds have been made for those who like bass, as the audio is dominated by bass. While most of TWS in this segment focus more on bass and less on audio clarity, it is not the case with boAt Airdopes 800. The audio is crystal clear, and the loudness is decent. For someone like me who loves to keep the volume levels around 40%, these buds were a perfect fit, as the loudness at 40-45% was impressive. Even when I pushed the volume levels above 90%, the audio didn’t become cacophonous or distorted, which is rare for TWS in this segment. The singer’s vocals sounded rich, and whether it was peppy numbers with beats or soulful Sufi music, every track was pleasing to hear.
The Airdopes come with a low latency gaming mode, which takes a latency of 50ms, making it ideal for gamers. Using the buds while playing games like COD Mobile offered no lags, and the crispness needed for gaming titles was decent. The calling experience using the Airdopes 800 was not the best. Indoors, there were no issues, but clarity issues plagued the calls when outdoors in a noisy environment. This is due to the lack of Active Noise Cancellation, which is a huge letdown as almost all TWS come with ANC these days. Airdopes come with ENC, but that isn’t enough to block out noises when you are on an important call or need a break from outside humdrum.
Advanced features like Multipoint connection and in-ear detection are nice to have in this segment.

boAt Airdopes 800 Review: Battery Life & Charging
boAt Airdopes 800 packs a 400mAh battery inside the charging case that claims to give a playback time of up to 40 hours on a single charge. During my usage, the case lasted for around 13 hours simultaneously for three days, which means 39-40 hours on a single charge. This was when I kept the volume at around 45% level. Each earbud packs a 35mAh battery that lasts for around 7-8 hours on a single charge. Moreover, fast charging is also available because recharging the boat Airdopes 800 for 5-10 minutes gives over 3 hours of playback time, which is impressive.

Review Verdict: Should you buy boAt Airdopes 800?
I have been reviewing entry-level TWS Buds for a while now, but boAt Airdopes 800 stands out among the crowd mainly because of its audio quality and loudness level. For a price of Rs. 1799, these earbuds offer rich audio quality even at the highest volume levels. Features like long battery life, IPX4 rating, and Dolby Atmos support add to the audio performance. While not having ANC is a big letdown with features like in-ear detection and multipoint connectivity, boAt is offering enough value for money with Airdopes 800. For those of you who love bass-rich audio but have a limited budget for TWS, boAt Airdopes 800 can be an option.
