Qualcomm recently announced a new Snapdragon 700 series of application processors for mobile phones that shall bridge the gap between the mid 600-tier and the high-end 800-tier chipsets. The Snapdragon 710 is the first mobile platform belonging to the new series and it indeed promises unprecedented performance advantages for mid-range phones. (हिंदी में पढ़े)
The octa-core chip uses the same Kryo 360 cores as in Snapdragon 845 and is manufactured on the same 10nm process. It also benefits from the new DynamIQ architecture and a system cache (that was added in the Snapdragon 845 for the first time).
Since the SoC is still quite new, we only have the phone in a handful of devices, but as we move further, we will be seeing the Snapdragon 710 a lot more in mid-range phones.
What’s special about Snapdragon 710 mobile platform?
The Octa-core chipset uses the same cores as in Snapdragon 845. But the configuration is 2+6 instead of 4+4 in the latter. It is also formed on the same 10nm fabrication process as Snapdragon 845.
- There are 2 Cortex-A75 based performance Kryo 360 cores (unlike 4 in Snapdragon 845) and 6 power Kryo 350 cores (Cortex-A55 based).
- This will be the first mid-range chip with Series 600 GPU (Adreno 616)
- The Snapdragon 710 should bring in a major improvement in power efficiency. Battery consumption will be significantly lesser with intensive tasks like gaming.
- It will also pass on up to 25 percent performance gain over Snapdragon 660 that it succeeds.
- The chipset supports 4K HDR playback, and up to 800Mbps download speeds
- It has the same X20 LTE Modem as Snapdragon 845.
Best phones with Snapdragon 710 Processor
1. Xiaomi Mi 8 SE
Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is the trimmed down and sized down version of Mi 8. It also costs lesser (roughly Rs. 18K). The SD 710 humming inside is paired with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage (not expandable).
The 5.88-inch AMOLED screen (18:9) has full HD+ resolution and is powered by a modest 3120mAh battery. Other features include USB Type-C port, dual rear cameras (12MP+ 5MP), 20MP selfie camera and Android Oreo-based MIUI 10 software.
- Compact design
- Powerful camera hardware
- AMOLED screen
- No 3.5 mm audio jack
- No microSD card slot
2. Vivo Nex A
Vivo’s awesome concept phone, Apex, is now accessible to masses in two variants – Nex S and Nex A. The Nex A is a Snapdragon 710 powered variant that comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen and retractable selfie camera.
The Vivo Nex A flaunts a screen-to-body ratio greater than 91.24-percent but, unlike the Nex S, is missing the under-display fingerprint sensor.
3. Nokia Phoenix
The recently launched Nokia 7 Plus addressed a ‘mid-range market void’ and HMD Global is reportedly working on further strengthening its grip.
Nokia Phoenix is reportedly listed in company’s roadmap and is expected to go official this winter. And yes, it will be powered by Snapdragon 710. We wouldn’t be surprised if this lands as Nokia 7.1 Plus.
4. Google mid-range Pixel 3 (Codenamed Bonito)
Google is said to be working on a mid-range Pixel 3 phone and its rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 710 chipset.
The Pixel phones that we have seen so far have had the flagship Qualcomm chipsets and high-end price. Since the internet giant prioritizes India, the possibility of a mid-range and slightly cheaper Pixel 3 doesn’t seem far-fetched at all. If the rumors turn out to be true, we will see the mid-range Pixel 3 phone go official in early October and it will obviously be running Android P.
5. Xiaomi Mi Max 3
Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi Max 3 will allegedly include a huge 6.99-inch 18:9 display and will be powered by Snapdragon 710 octa-core mobile platform coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
Like all Max-series devices, this will be an unconventionally big phone. Xiaomi makes good use of the extra room and houses a 5500mAh battery. According to leaks, the Mi Max 3 will use 20MP Sony IMX363 sensor for the primary camera. Other expected features include Android Oreo-based MIUI 10, Fast charging support, fingerprint sensor, and dual speakers

The upcoming Meizu 16X recently appeared on Geekbench confirming SD 710 and Android 8.1 Oreo as base software. Chances of X16 making across the border are slim at best.
