Asus Zenfone AR which recently flashed all over the internet, thanks to Qualcomm’s inadvertently mentioning it in a premature CES press release, has now been introduced officially. The Taiwanese company showcased it alongside the much anticipated Zenfone 3 Zoom at the ‘Zennovation’ press event at the CES 2017.

The Zenfone AR become World’s first smartphone to support both Google Tango augmented reality platform, and Google Daydream, which is a virtual reality platform developed by search engine giant. However, there is no app that can combine AR and VR experience together on the Zenfone AR.

To meet the challenging task, Asus has roped in Snapdragon 821 SoC and supposedly tweaked it for Tango. The chipset is supported by Adreno 530 GPU and 6/8 Gigs of RAM. For better Tango experience, the Zenfone AR comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera, two separate motion tracking and a depth-sensing camera all placed on the rear side of the phone.

At present, there are around 30 Augmented Reality based apps available on the Google Play store and the number is likely to notch up in the future.
