The last iPhone SE 3 came out in 2022. Based on the iPhone 8, it can run the latest iOS version, has one of the most balanced cameras in the segment, and provides decent battery backup, all while maintaining a compact form factor.

However, rumors about the iPhone SE 3’s successor, the iPhone SE 4, have been doing rounds on the internet for months. The purported smartphone may roll out early next year, with a similar value proposition as its predecessor but a completely revamped design and form factor. Reportedly, the iPhone SE 4 will be based on Apple iPhone 13.

iPhone SE 4 Design

According to @negativeonehero on X (formerly known as Twitter), the iPhone SE 4 will be based on the 2021 iPhone 13. Hence, users should expect to see a similar notch at the front (which houses the Face ID sensors). However, the smartphone’s rear panel will look like the iPhone Xr since it only houses a single camera sensor.

The dimensions of the purported smartphone, as leaked by the X user, are 148.5 x 71.2 x 7.8mm. In terms of weight, the iPhone SE 4 could weigh 166 grams, which is pretty light for a smartphone made from 7000 series aluminum alloy (featuring glass on the front and back).

iPhone SE 4 Screen

As mentioned earlier, the iPhone SE 4 will carry some characteristics of the iPhone 13, including its screen. The leakster adds that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED screen that supports a 60Hz refresh rate and Apple’s True Tone technology.

iPhone SE 4 Processor And Memory

The upcoming budget iPhone will feature the A16 Bionic (4nm), the same processor that powers the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. This will make the SE 4 one of the most powerful iPhones in the market. Along with the new processor, the handset should ship with a Snapdragon X70 modem and Apple’s U1 ultrawideband chip (which works with Apple AirTag).

Further, the smartphone should feature 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe flash memory. In terms of connectivity, the phone could come with support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.3, and a USB-C port.

Regarding optics, the leakster mentions the presence of the IMX503 (f/1.8, 1/2.55″) on the rear panel. Given that the phone features the A16 Bionic chipset, it should also feature the latest photography-related features, such as Portrait mode, smart HDR, Deep Fusion technology, Cinematic Mode, etc. However, the tipster claims that Apple could limit the Cinematic Mode to 1080p.

iPhone SE 4 Battery

The tipster hasn’t clarified about the battery capacity. However, there’s a rough estimate of about 3,279 mAh. Compared to the 2018 mAh battery on the iPhone SE 3, a 3,000 mAh battery on the iPhone SE 4 would provide much more battery life. Further, the cell could support 20W wired and 12W wireless charging via Apple’s MagSafe technology.

iPhone SE 4 Price

Regarding the smartphone’s price, it could launch at around Rs. 45,000 to 50,000 for the base variant. However, we’re slightly optimistic about expecting 128GB storage on the base variant, which is valid for all other iPhones retailing in 2024.
