The Mi 6X‘s Indian variant, Mi A2, is likely to succeed Xiaomi Mi A1 that was launched last year. That won’t be all, reports claim that Xiaomi may introduce not one but two Android One phones this year. The second one will be a more affordable budget smartphone under the Redmi-series.

The information was dug by XDA Developers from the firmware files of upcoming Xiaomi devices. According to which, a couple of Xiaomi devices codenamed as ‘jasmine_sprout’ and ‘daisy_sprout’ were spotted that have no MIUI system applications and show a stock Android-build. The “sprout” is the key here as the Mi A1 was codenamed ’tissot_sprout’.
Mi A2 Specifications
The ‘jasmine_sprout’ could be the Mi A2 packed with Mi 6X specifications. The report notes that the Mi A2 is powered by same mobile chipset – Snapdragon 660, and boasts camera hardware similar to the 6X. The Mi 6X sport dual 12MP+20MP sensors on the back and a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor on the front.

Other specifications the Mi A2 is said to come with are 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage, and 2,910mAh battery with quick charge support.
Is Redmi Android One Phone Coming?
On the other hand, “daisy_sprout”, the second affordable Android One phone makes sense because the Mi A2 is expected to be more expensive than Mi A1.
The phone was spotted with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, which is the same as the one on the Redmi Note 5. Since Mi A1 got a good response last year from the community, a pocket-friendly stock-Android phone looks like a good move from Xiaomi. For some reason, most people are already convinced that stock Android is a better option. It’s good that Xiaomi is providing alternatives to people who might be refraining from buying Xiaomi products just because they take a disliking to the MIUI software.
