Xiaomi’s last tasted Android One success with the Mi A1 which was actually a global version of Mi 5X. Following its success, Xiaomi Mi 6X launched in China on April 25, as expected, and the same should soon reach India as Mi A2. Like Mi 5X, its successor will also be running Xiaomi’ own MIUI custom OS.

Xiaomi Mi 6X Features and Highlights

At the Mi 6X China launch event, Xiaomi talked at length about Mi 6X camera with a lot of enthusiasm. The Mi 6X boasts of an AI-powered dual camera setup of 12MP+20MP sensors. The 12MP sensor will be the main sensor during the day while in poor lighting conditions the phone will switch to the secondary 20MP sensor to capture better low light images. The 20MP sensor comes with f/1.75 aperture and large 2 μm size pixels that enable it to capture more light.

On the front, the Xiaomi 6X features a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 camera with soft lights flash. Xiaomi claimed that the 6X dual cameras are AI optimized for 206 scenes and can intelligently identify and optimize images accordingly. The Xiaomi 6X selfie camera can also come with 12 self-portrait scenes feature using which it identifies your selfies intelligently and optimizes them. Portrait mode is supported for both front and back cameras. It also supports 4K recording which was missing on the original Mi A1.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X houses a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. Like Nokia 7, the Mi 6X (A2) be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The top Mi 6X top variant will feature 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

It draws power from a 2,910mAh battery, which s certainly nowhere close to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. However, the phone comes with Quick Charge 3.0 which should come handy. In terms of connectivity options, it includes dual SIM card slots, 4G VoLTe, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

Xiaomi Mi 6X Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi 6X 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 15,999) while the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage version is priced at yuan 1,799 (roughly Rs. 17,999). The Mi 6X top variant will cost CNY 2,199 (roughly Rs. 23,459) in China.  The phone will go on sale in China starting May 27.

Xiaomi Mi 6X (Mi A2) India Launch Dates?

Xiaomi Mi 6X is expected to launch as Mi A2 in India soon. During the China event, Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned anything about its India launch but we expect it to happen sooner rather than later. With the launch of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (review) and the Nokia 7 Plus (hands-on review), there is very limited breathing space available for the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, therefore, we expect Xiaomi to announce Mi A2 running on stock Android in the coming weeks.
