Mobile World Congress( MWC 2017) that’s scheduled to start on February 27, 2017 shall set the technology pace for the ongoing year. Even though the Samsung Galaxy S8 has been delayed, and Samsung has called dibs on this year’s prominent flagship SoC aka Snapdragon 835, there are quite a few upcoming smartphones (mostly mid-range) to be excited about. Here are the prominent smartphones expected to debut at MWC 2017.
Moto G5 Plus
Anyone looking forward to buying an affordable phone as of today could perhaps wait for the Moto G5 Plus to be unveiled. We are hoping that Motorola will manage to iron out the few Moto G4 Plus kinks (primarily the heating issue) and the G5 Plus will qualify as an easy recommendation.
Rumors suggest that the new Moto G5 Plus will have a metal body, front-mounded fingerprint reader and will be powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core 625 processor: the same one that the Redmi Note 4 (Review) relies on.

LG G6
LG G6 will perhaps be the only big ticket smartphone announcement at the event, since the Galaxy S8 won’t be able to make it to the MWC 2017. After the G5 misfire, a lot is at stake for LG with the new G6 – a challenge it seems to be handling rather well.
According to the bits and pieces revealed so far, the LG G6 will flaunt a near bezel-less and probably shatter resistant display, and improved Quad DAC, dual rear cameras, will have a 3200mAh battery and will be powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset. LG is also vouching for its reliability.
Huawei P10
Last year, Huawei P9 grabbed more than its fair share of headlines, all thanks to its dual camera concept deftly executed in partnership with Leica.
At MWC 2017, Huawei will be pitching the next iteration of its camera and design focused P-Series and we will know for sure what the Huawei P10 is all about.
New Nokia 3310
Nokia has managed to stay in limelight ever since ( or even before) it started its second innings with the Nokia 6. Now at MWC 2017, HMD Global will launch a couple more budget phones – the Nokia 3 and 5 – which will be trimmed down variants of the existing Nokia 6.
And that means, the most exciting product from Nokia’s stable should be the modern version of the yesteryear classic feature phone – the Nokia 3310. And we are hoping we will get to revisit fond childhood memories of playing Snake hours at a stretch. We might also get to hear more about the availability of Nokia phones beyond China.
BlackBerry Mercury
Blackberry will finally present the TCL made ‘Mercury’ a day before MWC 2017. The new BlackBerry Mercury (DTEK70) will blend BlackBerry’s classic keyboard in Android context and is expected to brandish a mid-range price tag.
Apart from what we already mentioned above, Sony is very likely to launch a couple more Android phones. Samsung would be bringing its Galaxy Tab portfolio to MWC this year and will also demonstrate the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S8 in a 1-minute promotional video. And we do expect to come across a few more Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches as well.
