In a comeback bid of sorts, BlackBerry is all set to introduce its new Android phone, to be apparently out in the market named as Mercury, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in the last week of next month.

The latest offering from the Canadian company was already a trending topic on the Internet courtesy leaks and reports regarding the phone’s design, specifications, and release timeline. In fact, BlackBerry even showcased the phone at CES this year, without revealing its specifications. Now a new tweet reveals precisely when BlackBerry will be filling in those blanks.

The Mercury will also be the last BlackBerry branded smartphone to be in-house engineered and designed. It will be manufactured by Chinese company, TCL that also makes Alcatel phones.

Earlier reports have stated that the Mercury would sport a metal unibody design with a dimpled soft-touch back. By the looks of it, the phone will feature a physical QWERTY keypad at its chin and will run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, though talks of the phone finally coming out with Android 7.1 are rife online.

Along with that, the phone is expected to feature a 4.5-inch (or somewhere around that) display along with either a Snapdragon 821 or 625 processor.

It is being speculated that the phone would pack a large battery. Other features will reportedly include a 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage space, a 13 MP primary camera and an 8 MP one on the front.

As of yet, both TCL as well BlackBerry are yet to let a word out in this regard and have so far let slip only the date of the release of the phone through the tweet, which is the 25th of February – the first day of MWC 2017.
