Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Review

#ExpertReview
By Smartprix6 years ago
The new Galaxy Note 10+ pushes the boundaries even further in every which way. And just in case you are hesitant to embrace the plus-size, Samsung also has a backup Note 10, but it has clearly distinguished Note 10+ as the mightier of the two. New Notes will face different sort of challenges from their predecessors. The smartphone landscape has radically changed from when Samsung launched its first Galaxy Note, and many of the unique attributes of this series are now common traits. For instance, consumers are now accustomed to large size screens with weird aspect ratios and minimal bezels across all budgets. Also, powerful performance hardware including flagship Qualcomm chipsets is now available on numerous affordable flagships and on the new breed of dedicated gaming phones. Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is an excellent phone and we quite like what Samsung is pitching. The Notes are meant to be big and bold, and true to the theme, the Note 10 Plus delivers powerful hardware and a premium experience. It’s still an incremental update over what we had last year, but the more we used it – the more we could appreciate the nuances. The Note 10+ has a fabulous display, a thoughtful, slim design, smart OneUI software, simpler Dex implementation, and a lasting battery with fast charging. The Pixel 3 still has an edge when it comes to still photography, but the Note 10+ too has a great camera and should be more appealing to videographers.
  • Elegant design
  • Display quality
  • Performance
  • Battery mileage
  • Stereo speakers
  • Dex on PC
  • No audio jack
  • low-light selfie camera performance

Wonderful

The best combo available in town. Just feel super awesome writing this review. Let's get into the details. Display: 1. Super crisp display 2. Instantly adaptive to various light exposures OS: 1. OS is buttery smooth (The main reason I pay premium for Samsung note series) 2. Practically no lag noticed with heavy multitasking Battery: 1. Only Samsung can excel this area. Hugely immersive display juiced up by small battery that stands a full work day with 30 percent left 2. The speed of this fast charger is like an F1 car S Pen: 1. I want to see the day when the tip of the S Pen becomes like a mechanical pencil. Mind-blowing thin tip that feels really like writing with a pen 2. The gestures work like magic Aura Glow back: 1. I added a matte finish sticker from online sources to further accentuate the glittery back 2. With or without the sticker it does the reflections with perfection Camera: 1. No comments required since it diligently does what it should be capable of be it night or day. 2. The ToF camera is used by a native app Distance Measure to measure the distance from phone to the object it's pointed. Practically useful at times. Overall: Every time I buy a note and use for a month I feel, 'This is it. There is nothing more that can be done by Samsung. They have reached the saturation limit'. Every year round, Samsung beats me hands down with their creativity, technology and perseverance. This is a game I love to lose every year that passes by. Please note: I have intentionally not added images taken from my note 10 plus like every reviewer does. (It's wrong to ask a fish to demonstrate swimming to be called a FISH). Samsung the world leaders they are.

Brilliant

My love for Samsung’s Note Series started long years back when I first got my hands on Note 3; not just one, but I went on to buy another Note 3 when it came to upgrading my phone and I still have it in a very healthy shape. With Note 10 Plus, Samsung has brought in a lot of changes. I will share my review in few key points below: What to consider before buying? 1. Are you looking for a premium flagship phone? 2. Are you the one who looks at a phone beyond aesthetics and basic use (Calls, Texts, Social Media Apps)? If the answer for above questions is ‘YES’, then there’s a high likelihood of you enjoying this latest offering from Samsung. What’s exciting? 1. Built - The look, the colours (especially, Auro Glow), the premium feel (high built quality). 2. Display - Screen quality is one area where there’s absolutely no debate when it comes to Samsung. They make the best phone displays and it stands true even for Note 10 Plus. The geeks out their would be pointing at the only flaw or lack of 90 Hz Refresh Display present on One Plus 7 Pro; but to an everyday user, it wouldn’t make a bug difference. The AMOLED display packs a punch and offers immersive experience while viewing content and is definitely one of the most exciting aspects of this phone. 3. Camera - My favourite part of discussion. Endless list of features and possibilities through remarkable features. The Live Focus Video (portrait mode for videos that blurs background) isn’t too accurate at the moment, but I believe it will improve with upcoming software updates. Low Light photography is a positive too, but leaves you wanting for more. I haven’t tested the video camera yet, so can’t comment much on that. Overall, the camera or the 5 cameras I must say are very satisfying - Normal, Wide, Telephoto, Depth Vision + the front camera. 4. Overall usability - If you’ve been into Note series, then you would understand how productive this phone can be. The processor is snappy, the tools available (including S-Pen) offer great opportunity to be productive, get artistic or just go scribbling. The experience of using this phone is fantastic. 5. Battery Life - Charges from 0 to 100 in less than 90 minutes, which is fantastic. Lasts for over 24 hours on normal usage, which is pretty decent. What can be a deal breaker? 1. Cost - If you think spending 80,000 is too much for your liking. A lot of other brands offer their flagships at nearly half the price. On the other hand, if you look at it, Samsung Note 10 Plus is a premium flagship which competes directly with Apple - which is expected to launch their flagship nearly twice as expensive as this one. So 2 perspectives. 2. Headphone Jack - Goodbye 3.5 mm headphone jack. This looks like the beginning of the end of the 3.5 mm headphone jack on leading Samsung devises too. You can use the USB-C type ones that are offered in the box or go for the Bluetooth ones. But if this matters to you, then you might reconsider. 3. S-Pen - While many would buy the phone for the prolific S-Pen, a lot of you may want to look at S10+ if this feature doesn’t excite you at all. So here ends my long review. Hope my review helps you make an informed decision about your decision.
