Reliance Jio –a Mukesh Ambani company, recently rolled out is its 4G services in India. However, only 1 Lakh employees can take the advantage of this service as the company is considering it as a beta test before a grand commercial launch sometime at the end of March 2016.
In order to create a complete ecosystem before commercial launch, Company has started announcing its 4G compatible phone for customers. Yesterday, Reliance Jio has announced its first smartphone Earth 1 under the Lyf sub-brand.
This Lyf Earth 1 is a dual-SIM – a nano and a microSIM is supported - smartphone which is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset along with Adreno 405 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display at the top with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It comes with a 13-megapixel imagery sensor at the back at a 5-megapixel selfie camera sitting at the front.
The phone comes with 32GB expandable internal storage and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It has a metal and glass exterior and weighs 162 grams in total.
Overall, the phone appears to offer good mid-range specification and it will be interesting to see how company plans to price it ahead of its big bang launch. As of now there is no official word on its pricing. We expect Lyf Earth 1 price in India could be around 25,000 INR.
