Apple iPhone X Review, Price and Specifications

Apple recently pushed the boundaries (quite literally), with its iPhone X. A phone that has been the veritable butt of all jokes, all thanks to its expensive price and the failed Face ID demo on stage. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The iPhone X is a 7.7mm slim phone with glass on both front and rear and a metallic side frame sandwiched in the middle. The phone has dual cameras on the rear supported by Apples ARKit (which is supposed to be a big boost for Augmented Reality), and on the front, it's mostly display.

This is the first time ever that Apple is using an OLED panel. The iPhone X display is a 5.8-inch screen (With 3D touch, Dolby Vision, 625 Nits bright) that fills the entire fascia, save for a notch on top that houses the new Depth camera setup that's also used for the Face ID secure unlock. A thin black border runs along the display on all sides. Since there is no home button on the front, you will have to navigate through iPhone X using gestures.

Using a dot projector and IR laser, the depth camera can map your face using 30,000 invisible dots. You can use it to unlock your phone securely and conveniently with a simple glance.

The depth camera module also includes the 7MP camera for selfies. Apple also uses the depth map and selfie camera for Animojis or animated emojis tunned in line with your facial muscles.

As for iPhone X Rear camera performance, both the 12MP sensors benefit from optical image stabilization. You can use the setup for 2X lossless zoom or for Portrait shots (with blurred background). Apple has also added a unique Portrait lighting feature that can be used to add studio lighting effects on clicked images.

On the inside, the handset is powered by the new Hexa-core A11 bionic chip with its own neural engine (for AR) paired with 3GB RAM and 64GB/256GB storage. Initial benchmark sightings confirm Apple claims of this being the most powerful mobile chipset as of today.

Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.0 support, iOS 11, IP67 water and dust resistance, Wireless charging, and '2 hours more than iPhone 7' worth of battery backup.

iPhone X Price in India is 89,000 INR for the base variant and Rs. 1,00,2000 for the 256GB storage variant. You can buy iPhone X in India starting from November 3, 2017.

Apple iPhone X review

The anniversary iPhone is here. The iPhone X. Or the iPhone 10. The name is as confusing as the product itself is game-changing. The iPhone X screen is a notch bigger than the iPhone 8's and they aren't far away from the truth. The iPhone X also supports the latest Voice over LTE (VoLTE), HD Voice and Wi-Fi calling protocols, but those are carrier-dependent features.

The screen has a rather unusual ratio of 19.5:9, taller even than Samsung's 18.5:9. read more →

  • Looks elegant
  • Powerful chipset
  • Edge-to-edge OLED screen
  • Wireless charging
  • No 3.5mm audio jack (ships with a Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter)
  • No memory expansion via a microSD
  • iTunes dependency for uploading content
  • No fast charger provided in the box (and the optional one is expensive)
  • Video camera still recording mono audio only

Apple iPhone X Review

The iPhone X is the most radical change to the iPhone formula ever, and despite some concerns, Apple has built a seriously impressive machine. We love its build quality and comfortable design, not to mention its expansive screen and great performance. The makeover here is drastic, though, and it'll take some time to really get used to Face ID and life without a home button. Stick with it and you'll find that the iPhone X is a surprisingly easy device to live with. read more →

  • Impeccable build quality
  • Face ID generally works well
  • Great performance
  • Good main cameras get even better
  • The lack of a home button takes some getting used to
  • Not all apps use the whole screen
  • Portrait selfies are hit-or-miss
  • Battery life could be better

iPhone X review

The iPhone X is a sensational looking iPhone but it obviously comes at a huge cost, and you'll have to wait to get it. Question marks remain over Face ID as a way of unlocking the phone, but if your face truly does get 'learned' over time, it could work well.

The LCD screens had a decent contrast ratio and were colorful and bright – qualities that are as engaging as chucking in a load more pixels. read more →

  • Screen is stunning
  • New user interface is intuitive
  • Portrait Lighting is effectiv
  • Face ID was erratic in demos
  • Cost is so, so high

Apple iPhone X Review

The iPhone X doesn't exactly fit into this whole setup. It represents an unexpected plot twist that requires you to rethink the way you look at the protagonist. It both looks and works differently from what we're used to, and it just so happens that the transition from the 'classic' to the 'modern' way of using an iPhone isn't too smooth.

The gesture-based interface is nothing dfficult to wrap your head around; as a matter of fact, operating an iPhone like this feels quite nice – it quickly becomes natural. read more →
