Though Cyanogen insists that its marriage with YU is working well, there have been substantial rumors of both firms losing interest in this partnership. Yu recently started selling all devices with stock Android Lollipop/ Kitkat software and is now taking help from developer community to deliver Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM for Yureka, Yureka Plus, Yuphoria and Yunique.

The company has announced ‘Developer Challenge 6.0’ contest where it urges forum members to submit a stable AOSP Android Marshmallow build for Yureka devices (they specifically mention CyanogenMod ROMs shouldn’t be submitted. Participants can register themselves and submit their builds by 10th December. Lesser the bugs, higher will be the probability of winning.

First price is 1 Lakh INR for each device, while runner-ups will get 50K and 25K for each device. Yu wants each participant to deliver their level best and thus will provide with all tools, devices, tutorials, etc. needed.

This sure is a resource efficient way to develop new custom ROM for Yu devices, but as long as customers get stable and efficient Marshmallow builds, everyone shall be a winner.

To participate in the contest, you can submit your entry using this Google Form. For more information about the contest you can visit the official forum page.
