Xiaomi Redmi S2 with 18:9 Display and 16MP Selfie Camera Launched: Price and Specifications

Xiaomi has finally launched its selfie-centric Redmi S2 in China, which is expected to debut soon in the Indian market as Redmi Y2.

Xiaomi touts S2 as its best selfie-camera phone. It packs a 16-megapixel sensor on the front with soft LED flash and AI beauty feature. Other than that, the Redmi S2 also checks almost all the contemporary trends like full vision display, latest Android OS, and dual-rear cameras.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 Price and Availability

Since Redmi is Xiaomi’s budget smartphone series, the new Redmi S2 won’t cost you a bomb. The firm has priced the Redmi S2 in China at 999 yuan (roughly to Rs. 10,560) for its 3GB RAM variant and 1299 yuan (roughly to Rs. 13,735) for the 4GB RAM variant.

The phone will be available in Rose gold, Champagne Gold, and Platinum Silver color options. There is no word regarding Redmi S2 India availability right now.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 Features

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 flaunts a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) 18:9 display surrounded by thin bezels. It is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 chipset, paired with Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. The storage is expandable up to 256Gb via microSD card.

For shutterbugs, the Redmi S2 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera along with a secondary 5-megapixel sensor to capture bokeh shots and an LED flash for low light photography. Key camera features include phase detection autofocus (PDAF), electronic image stabilization (EIS), and full HD video recording support.

The Redmi S2 runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9 out of the box and houses a 3080mAh battery. Its connectivity option include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS.
