Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Launched: Specifications, Top Features and Price

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, a much-awaited smartphone, has been launched by Xiaomi in China. The first Redmi 5 series phone has big boots to fill as the Redmi 4A did exceeding well for the company. Interestingly, despite getting Note ‘moniker’ it is a successor to the Redmi 4A which is already available in India. (हिंदी में पढ़ें)

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Design & Features

The entry-level phone comes with a premium looking design and build quality. The Redmi Note 5A flaunts an all-metal body with a Corning Gorilla Glass on top of the screen. Having said that, Xiaomi on purpose didn’t specify the version of Corning Gorilla Glass that Redmi Note 5A features. The fingerprint sensor is only offered in the high-end version in which it can be located on the rear side. It features backlit capacitive navigation keys.

Both variants of the Redmi Note 5A have a 5-inch HD IPS display, a 13-megapixel rear camera and MIUI9 are in common. The both device features a dedicated microSD card slot, alongside dual SIM slots. Connectivity wise, both variants comes with 3,080mAh battery, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and an IR blaster.

The budget variant of the Note 5A features a Snapdragon 425SoC, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage. It comes with a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The Note 5A premium variant, on the other hand, rocks a Qualcomm’s latest entry-level chipset level- the Snapdragon 435. Apart from this, it gets 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A vs Redmi 4A: What Really Changed?

Well, not much has really changed if we compare Redmi Note 5A with Redmi 4A basic variants (at least on paper). Both features same Snapdragon 425 chipset, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The major difference between the two is the difference in screen size. While the 4A comes with 5-inch HD IPS display, the Note 5A features a bigger 5.5-inch IPS display (though the resolution remains same). Another key difference is MIUI version. The Redmi Note 5A comes running on MIUI 9 which while Redmi 4A is currently running on MIUI 8 (but will be updated to MIUI 9 soon). 

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A India Launch Details and Price

In China, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will be made available in in three hues – Champagne Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum Silver. The company has priced its base variant at RMB 699 (approx. Rs 6,700), while the Redmi Note 5A Snapdragon 435 variant retails for RMB 899 (approx. Rs 8,600). Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned anything about the Redmi Note 5A India launch and availability details. It is only available China at the moment.
