Star India, which holds the right to Live broadcast IPL matches across India, announced a slew of methods to make the Vivo IPL 2018 more engaging. This will allow Star India to reach out to 700 million fans and make them actively enjoy the matches rather than passively watching it on TV and digital media.
IPL To Be Multi-Lingual
For the first time ever India’s biggest ever sporting spectacle, Indian Premier League, will be broadcasted in 6 different languages. Viewers will be able to watch the game in their preferred languages across the platform.
Moving on, Star has announced that they will broadcast IPL’s retention event. Hence, this season’s IPL will not be a 2-month party but a 6-month long fiesta – retention event followed by IPL games.
Also, for the upcoming auctions, fans for the first time will be able to get their voice heard by voting for their favourite players. They can cast their vote on the Hotstar’s Vivo IPL Election official page. This will appear as ‘Election se Selection’ campaign on the network.
Watch Game From Your Favorite Seat
Furthermore, Star India announced that its digital arm, Hotstar, will broadcast all the matches in Virtual Reality. The VR technology will bring fans closer to the high-octane matches within the comfort of their homes.
With VR viewers watching IPL on Hotstar will be able to select camera angles and commentary language of their choice, offering further customisation through the “Super-fan feed”. In addition, fans will be able to enjoy a social experience on Hotstar with cricket emojis to enhance the viewing and sharing experience.
Addressing the press event Mr Sanjay Gupta, Managing Director, Star India, said “now that it is on the Star India network across both, television and digital, we are set to use the confluence of technology, consumer insight, and experience in cricket coverage, to broaden the outreach and experience even further.”
