WhatsApp has been adding quite a lot of features lately. Some of the features that it rolls out are often teased in leaks followed by beta builds that it sends out for testing purposes. One of the latest features that were recently spotted on a beta version of WhatsApp is the undo of deleted messages, double verification, and large file sharing gesture among others. Here’s an account of these features that are likely to be rolled out across WhatsApp clients shortly.

Undo Deleted Messages on WhatsApp

According to WhatsApp Beta version 2.22.13.5, WhatsApp is testing out a feature to undo deleted messages on your phone. What this particular feature does is gives you a chance to undo a deleted message. It works on the “Delete for me” functionality bringing it back should you accidentally attempt deleting a message of yours. You will have a few seconds to undo the delete message or else you will lose it permanently. Use case of this feature could be to retrieve a message that you deleted accidentally while another example is of ‘undoing’ it and deleting it for everyone instead.

Large File Sharing Feature Rollout

The WhatsApp Beta v2.22.13.6 further adds another feature to its wider rollout. I am referring to its capability to share large files of up to 12GB to all the users who are eligible to carry the same update. This is a feature that was under beta testing for a while now and which comes closer to its wider rollout.

Double Verification During Logging

Security is an integral part of apps especially when it comes to WhatsApp which is an instant messaging platform where billions of people interact every day. WhatsApp is now introducing a double verification feature when logging in to your WhatsApp account on a different phone. It will add another layer of security that a user would require to find in OTP for double verification before they can continue using WhatsApp on a different phone.

New WhatsApp SplashScreen

WhatsApp changed its SplashScreen on devices for some time now showing a big WhatsApp logo at the center of the screen. Cut to now, the beta version 2.22.12.8 shows a new SplashScreen API for Android 12 with new app launch animation. It shows a tiny monochrome WhatsApp logo at the center followed by “From Meta” at the bottom.

Note that these were some of the features that WhatsApp is currently testing on WhatsApp Beta v2.22.13.6. As it should remain, there’s no confirmation if these features will roll out officially and some of them may not see the light of the day.
