Nothing has been teasing its upcoming smartphone launch in creative ways, dropping hints that have sparked conversations online. It started with an Arcanine Pokémon teaser (hinting at Phone 3a and 3a Plus) and was followed by a teaser showing a triple rear camera array.

The teaser also reveals that the Phone 3a will be unveiled on March 4, 2025, at 3:30 PM IST. And the Flipkart URL of the teaser itself confirms the name Phone 3a, making it clear that this is the successor to the Phone 2a.

Let’s break down everything we know so far and what you can expect from the Phone 3a (and 3a Plus).

Phone 3a Cameras: The Highlight

The Phone 3a will feature a triple rear camera setup, as shown in the teaser. According to rumors:

  • Main Camera: A 50 MP sensor.
  • Telephoto Lens: A 50 MP 2x telephoto camera, likely without OIS.
  • Ultrawide Camera: Could either be a 50 MP or an 8 MP sensor (still unconfirmed).

The Phone 3a Plus is said to take it further with the addition of a periscope camera, making it the first in Nothing’s lineup to adopt this technology (telephoto would also be a first). This could increase the price of the phone but we’re not sure how Nothing will handle that.

Phone 3a Display: Compact or Large

Based on leaks, the Phone 3a will have a 6.1 to 6.2-inch 120 Hz OLED display, while the Phone 3a Plus will feature a larger 6.8-inch 120 Hz OLED panel. This comes from a short video posted by Nothing, talking about an upcoming small phone. However, a leaker suggests that the Phone 3a would feature a 6.8-inch display.

Phone 3a Processor: Snapdragon 7s Gen 3

Both phones are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, which was recently spotted on Geekbench. It’s not the most powerful processor in the segment, so we’ll have to see how Nothing optimizes it.

However, this raises a question: Will Nothing ditch MediaTek this year? The Phone 2a and 2a Plus were built on MediaTek platforms, so this shift, if true, would be interesting to watch.

Battery and Charging

Although the exact battery capacities remain unknown, industry trends suggest the Phone 3a and 3a Plus will pack over 5000 mAh batteries. Charging speeds are expected to reach 45W or higher. Expect standard Nothing Phone features like NFC and the glyph lights to stay. A leaker suggests that the battery and charging will remain the same at 5,000 mAh and 45W.

Phone 3a Expected Pricing

Based on last year’s pricing, we can expect the Phone 3a to start at around ₹27,000, with the 3a Plus priced closer to ₹32,000. Given Nothing’s reputation for delivering premium aesthetics and features at mid-range pricing, this could be a major selling point.
