Nothing, the tech brand known for its unique smartphone designs, has been away from the news for some time now. Behind the scene the company seems to be currently working on three new smartphones under the codenames “asteroids,” “asteroids_plus,” and “galaga.”
Nothing’s 2025 smartphone lineup
CEO Carl Pei previously announced that the Nothing Phone 3 would launch in 2025, while emphasising on the AI boom. We now have found 3 mysterious Nothing smartphone models on the IMEI database. These Nothing smartphones have model numbers A001, A059 and A059P.
Based on past patterns, the model number A059 likely belongs to the Nothing Phone 3a, while A059P is likely the Nothing Phone 3a Plus. The “P” suffix typically denotes a “Plus” variant, as seen with the previous Phone 2a Plus (model A142P). We speculate that “asteroids” refers to the Nothing Phone 3a, and “asteroids_plus” to the Nothing Phone 3a Plus.
The upcoming CMF-branded smartphone, presumably the CMF Phone 2, is codenamed “galaga” and could carry the model number A001. This device has also been spotted on the GSMA database and the latest Nothing OS build.

What to Expect from the Nothing Phone 3a?
The Nothing Phone 3a is shaping up to be a mid-range device with a few notable compromises and features:
Cameras:
- Main camera: 26mm focal length, capable of 4K 60FPS video recording, and slow-motion video up to 480FPS at 1080P.
- Features: Super Macro, Super EIS, and Super Night modes (names subject to change).
- Front camera: 29mm focal length, recording 1080P at 30FPS—a step down from the 60FPS capability of the Phone 2a.
- No support for high-resolution RAW photography, but in-sensor zoom technology promises smoother, clearer results.
Performance:
- It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. Recently it was spotted on Geekbench 6 where it had scored on 1119 (single-core) and 3128 (multi-core) test.
CMF Phone 2 and Its Potential Chipset
The CMF Phone 2 could also feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, a significant upgrade from the Dimensity 7200 Pro and Dimensity 7300 used in previous Nothing and CMF models. This shift promises enhanced performance and differentiation.
Expected Timeline
Nothing Phone 3a series will be launched with Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.1 user interface. We expect new smartphones to be launched in the first quarter of 2025.
