TL; DR
  • Vivo’s standalone vlogging camera could launch sometime in 2026, around the same time as DJI releases the Osmo Pocket 4, or slightly after.
  • Vivo should incorporate its micro-gimbal stabilization and AI-powered imaging technology to offer highly stabilized footage from a handheld vlogging camera.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer vivo has confirmed the existence of its first-ever vlogging camera, a direct rival to the current-generation DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (and the upcoming Osmo Pocket 4).

Vivo To Enter The Standalone Vlogging Camera Market This Year

Vivo’s standalone vlogging camera could launch sometime in 2026, around the same time as DJI releases the Osmo Pocket 4, or slightly after. It is expected to emphasize a lightweight design, user-friendly interface, and advanced gimbal-based stabilization technology.

While the company doesn’t have any significant experience in creating standalone cameras, it could leverage its expertise in smartphone camera stabilization, optics, and user interface to create something that feels more like an extension of its smartphone ecosystem.

Vivo should incorporate its micro-gimbal stabilization and AI-powered imaging technology to offer highly stabilized footage from a handheld vlogging camera. The device may be compatible with accessories like a telephoto extended kit, similar to those available for the Osmo Pocket 3.

The company has already set up a team of nearly 100 people to develop the vlogging camera.

Vivo Should Absolutely Match The Osmo Pocket 3’s Specifications

The Osmo Pocket 3 features a 1-inch CMOS sensor for high-quality 4K/120fps video, a 2-inch rotatable touchscreen, and 3-axis mechanical stabilization. Users highly praise it for its portability and ease of use. Further, the Osmo Pocket 4 is expected to offer significant improvements in battery life.

However, that is the extent of the information we have about vivo’s purported handheld gimbal-based vlogging camera.
