Upcoming Samsung DeX Pad 2018 Will Let You Use Galaxy S9 As TouchPad

Last year along with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ (review), Samsung introduced a DeX Station. It was basically a dock that allows a user to connect its S8 to a nearby monitor to make it function more in a PC.

The dock is now all set to be succeeded by the next-generation DeX Pad. It is said that on February 25, apart from the Galaxy S9 and S9+, Samsung will also unveil its all-new DeX.  But, thanks to this famous leakster Evan Blass, the alleged ‘DeX Pad’ images are all over the internet, giving valuable insights.

DeX Pad Features

As per the leaked image, the new dock is a big overhaul of its predecessor, DeX Station. The new DeX Pad has a horizontal surface that ask the Samsung Galaxy to be laid on its back, instead, of placing it vertically. This will allow you to use your phone’s display like a touchpad simultaneously – a thing that was missing from the previous dock.

The redesigned DeX has an air vent on the top surface of the for controlling the temperature of your device. The Dex Pad is expected to be compatible with the previous Galaxy models like S8, S8+ and Note 8. In terms of connectivity, the 2018 DeX will have two USB A, one HDMI, one USB Type-C, and one Ethernet port.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

Meanwhile, some details of the upcoming Galaxy S9 was also leaked with the renders of Dex Pad. To much relief, the phone looks to retain the 3.5mm jack on the lower edge of the phone. Whereas the power button is placed on the right side, and the volume rocker and Bixby button sit on the left edge of the phone.

As for the specification, the handset will be powered by Snapdragon 845 – Exynos 9810 SoC in India, though. The phone will run on Samsung’s latest Experience 9.0 based Android Oreo out of the box.
