UIDAI Solves Privacy Issue, Introduces New Way To Authenticate Aadhaar

0

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDIA) shares that it is working on a new virtual ID system, built on top of your Aadhaar. The new system is supposed to eliminate giving out Aadhaar credentials everytime you use it for authentication purpose. UIDAI calls it Limited KYC.

The Aadhaar office is yet to clear the air over how this system will work and what benefits it will bring. But as of now, it is speculated that the virtual ID or the Limited KYC will be synced with your Aadhaar card and it will replace the 12-digit Aadhaat number by the 16-digit temporary number. Thereby using the latter for all your authentication.

As per the current system, the Aadhaar holders are bound to share all their information like name, date of birth, photo, address and mobile number to the service provider. This will be changed to the new virtual ID-based authentication that will give away only need-based information.

The system could be implemented as early by March 1, and reports say that UIDAI will come out with an API to make the virtual Aadhaar ID a reality. All agencies that are given access to use Aadhaar to do KYC are supposed to upgrade to this new system by June 2018.
