Top 10 Smartphones Expected to Launch In October 2017

Yes! Winter is coming. We are barely three months away from welcoming 2018. This is the time of year when smartphone and other electronic makers make their bulk sales. In India, the last round of Diwali sales have already begun, and consequently, there are only a few smartphone launches that are lined up for this month of October.

In this article, we will brief you with the top 10 smartphones expected to launch in October in India and abroad.

Google Pixel 2/ Google Pixel 2 XL / Google Pixel 2XXL

Exact 1 year after introducing Made by Google phones – Pixel and Pixel XL – search engine giant is all set to introduce the second generation Pixel phones on October 4 in San Francisco.

If the preliminary information is to be believed, Google will launch Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2 XXL. In terms of features, the second-generation Pixel smartphones are likely to come with Active Edge aka squeezable bezels, 18:9 aspect ratio display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, and Android 8.0 Oreo. Although Google is yet to announce Pixel 2XL India launch date, we expect it to happen before the end of October.

Honor 9 and Honor Nova 2i

Chinese smartphone brand Honor is set to launch a smartphone in India on September 5 but there is some confusion regarding its name. The Honor Global officially tweeted that it will launch Honor 9 in India on October 5 in Goa, while, the image posted by Honor India official twitter account suggests otherwise.

In its “#Explorewith HONOR” tweet, Honor India posted an image that has vertical dual camera setup which appears similar to the Honor Mate 10 Lite rather than the Honor 9.

Both of these smartphones are already available in China. On the specs front, Honor 9 appears to encompass more than the Honor Nova 2i. While the Honor Mate 10 Lite comes with 5.9 Full HD+ screen 18:9 display whereas, the Honor 9 is much more compact as it comes with 5.15-inch full HD display. The former is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset, the Honor 9 comes with a Kirin 960 chipset. It is possible that Honor launches both of these phones on October 5.

Motorola Moto X4

Motorola Moto X4 India launch was earlier scheduled for October 4 but the company had to postpone it further to an unannounced date. This dual camera smartphone is already out in few western countries. While in the US, it is a part of Android One project (running on pure Android), the European version of the Moto X4 comes with Custom version of Android Nougat with Alexa Assistant.

In terms of specification, the Moto X4 features a 5.2-inch display, Snapdragon 630 SoC, 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB ROM. There is a dual camera setup (12MP + 8MP) at the rear end. Lenovo is expected to set Moto X4 India price between Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 30,000.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

Xiaom Mi Mix 2 is a second generation almost bezel-less smartphone from the company that is also known as Chinese Apple. Although the first-gen Mi Mix never made it India, the Mi Mix 2 will come to India as confirmed by Manu Jain, Xiaomi India head last month.

The all-glass front smartphone rocks a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It comes with a staggering 93 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful Snapdragon 835 chipset and is complemented by 6GB RAM. For the optics, Xiaomi has sourced a 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera sensor which is assisted by 4-axis OIS and LED flash and a 5MP camera for selfies.

The phone draws juice from a 3,400mAh battery which also supports Quick Charge 3.0. Xiaomi India could price Mi Mix 2 at around 35,000 in India.

LG V30

Back in August South Korean giant announced LG V30 and a few days back its shipping started in few countries. Though LG hasn’t made any official announcement related to India launch, we expect its launch is just around the corner.

The LG V30 features Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood which is assisted by 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB/ 128GB UFS 2.0 storage. The phone comes with a 6-inch Dolby Vision OLED Display which has 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

OPPO F5

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo recently featured in few leaks with its new F5 smartphone and there are good chances that the new selfie expert will land in India sooner rather than later.

As per the rumors, the Oppo F5 houses a 6-inch full HD+ display, boasts of 18:9 aspect ratio with bare minimum bezels on the sides, and 2.5D glass on top. The phone comes is black, red and rose gold hues. There is a dual selfie camera setup on the front while fingerprint sensor and single camera with LED flash present on the rear. Basically, a Vivo V7+ challenger.

Airtel 4G Feature Phone

As Jio starts shipping its VoLTE enabled 4G feature phone, Airtel is in the mood to take on Jio with its own 4G feature phone. As per the industry sources, the Airtel 4GB feature phone will be priced at around Rs. 2,000 and will come pre-installed with Facebook, WhatsApp, Music, Wink Music and Wink movies app.

The Airtel feature phone could flaunt a 4-inch touchscreen, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage along with an SD card slot.

Top 10 smartphones expected to launch in India in October 2017

Finally, with the launch of Google Pixel 2 most of the flagship smartphones will be out. Hopefully, by the end of October 2017 judgement will be on who is the king among Apple, Samsung and Google in the battle of the ultimate smartphone of the year.
