Synology, the Taiwanese private cloud solutions provider, has launched its new ActiveProtect appliance series. It is designed for fast deployment and efficient data protection, particularly against data loss, breaches, and ransomware.

To provide context, the company manages 520+ exabytes of data across 13 million servers. Its reliable, secure, and flexible data solutions for businesses are trusted by over half of the Fortune 500 companies of the world.

The company cites the rising wave of ransomware attacks in the South Asian Association for Regional Competition (SAARC) — expected to grow by more than 50% in 2025 — as the reason behind the increased demand for data protection.

To fulfill the demand, Synology has released the ActiveProtect appliance, a next-generation backup and recovery solution that enhances backup speeds, ransomware resilience, and usability under times of stress. All these features provide robust cyber resilience for modern enterprises.

The ActiveProtect series includes three products.

  • DP320 (Suggest backup: 5 TB)
  • DP340 (Suggest backup: 14.5 TB)
  • DP7400 (Suggest backup: 83.5 TB)

Synology ActiveProtect Series Key Features

  • Improved ransomware protection uses advanced security protocols to ensure enterprises’ data is immutable. The data is isolated with air-gapped backups.
  • A unified management interface allows effortless monitoring and control. Further, scalable cluster architecture simplifies management for 150,000 devices.
  • Compared to regular backup solutions, the cost of ActiveProtect appliances “averages only 20%,” making it a cost-effective solution. The installation, maintenance, and support require significantly less time.
