OPPO has always focused on innovation for growth, and this approach has had a profound impact on the smartphone industry at large. A lot of smartphone staple tech in 2019, including super-fast charging (VOOC) and swivel cameras (OPPO N1), was pioneered by OPPO, and the brand has established itself as the first mobile major to come up with a remarkably innovative solution to counter ever-growing challenges of smartphone industry especially cameras – their inability to deliver optical zoom without bloating up the size.

OPPO first showcased its periscope-style Zoom camera technology with 5x Lossless zoom at MWC 2017. Over the last two years, the smartphone maker has further perfected the camera system and delivered it in a stunning packaging of the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom. The handset includes a 48MP primary sensor for amazing clarity in images, employs the best available chipset, and backs all hardware with a very assuring battery. And in spite of being stuffed to the brim with cool technology, it’s still incredibly ergonomic and feels marvelous in hands!

It’s not every day that we come across a phone that rewrites the rules for the better. The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is one such flagship that represents a new OPPO and redefines what a smartphone can do.

The Amazing cameras

The unique camera system is what truly distinguishes OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and gives it an edge over other phones in its class.

The primary camera has a large 1/ 2 – inch sensor with 48-megapixel resolution. Data or light collected in four adjoining pixels is clubbed together, resulting in a wider dynamic range and amazing clarity both in daylight and low light shots.

The next is an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens that is really handy when you need to capture broad landscapes or close-ups without missing on the backdrop. Reno 10x Zoom also adds edge distortion correction in the software, and thus you can enjoy a broader canvas without compromises.

The veritable star of the show, however, is the 10x hybrid zoom camera. The 13MP telephoto lens which uses sensors to redirect the incoming light through a prism through a series of lens elements arranged in a periscope-style assembly using a stabilized mirror. The three sensors together work in tandem to extend the range of optical zoom. The end result is a stunning 10x hybrid zoom that lets you see far off objects up close.

Apart from being a marvel of engineering, the zoom camera is really fun and we are willing to bet that you’d be drawing your phone out more frequently just to peek at distant objects.

OPPO also adds a fast focus system, an excellent portrait mode, and an Ultra Night mode 2.0 that combines the prowess of HDR, Multi-frame noise reduction, and AI to faithfully enhance low light shots without going overboard.

The 10x Hybrid Zoom enables a person to shoot amazing 4K videos at 60fps, and there are three microphones to record hi-resolution directional audio.

This smartphone is perfect because of years of work OPPO has put in perfecting its smart image processing algorithms and the hard work that the brand has put in balancing the hardware and software sides of the equation. This is the stuff flagships are made of.

Stupendous design that works

While the camera demonstrates OPPO’s engineering expertise, Oppo Reno 10x Zoom design is a testimony to its skilled craftsmanship. The phone has rounded corners and curves in all the right places that make it really comfortable to grip and to operate.

The glass back has been polished for a smooth, distinctive, and premium feel. Even the state of the art triple camera system sits flush underneath the Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Besides, there are some subtle gradient color options complimenting the forward-thinking approach Reno 10x Zoom is centered around.

Most of the fascia is its uninterrupted and gorgeous 6.6-inch AMOLED screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. The display extends edge-to-edge on all sides and that’s because OPPO has housed the front camera and earpiece within an elevating ‘Shark Fin’.

The elevating top edge extends at an 11-degree angle and gives OPPO room to accommodate a few more components, including the earpiece, rear flash, and soft light selfie flash, apart from the 16MP selfie shooter, of course. And it looks really cool!

The Shark Fin rising camera takes just 0.8 seconds to pop and has been certified for at least 200,000 actuations. The phone automatically detects free fall and retracts the module in case you drop your phone.

A Performance Beast

On the inside, you will find Qualcomm’s leading Snapdragon 855 octa-core chipset that brings a whopping 45 percent improvement over its predecessor. Needless to say, all high-end gaming titles runs smoothly on the device.

OPPO’s smart Hyperboost 2.0 further helps with the smart allocation of resources, fine tuning gaming experience, and lowering power consumption.

Speaking of battery, all sorts of users are very well covered. There’s a 4065mAh power unit inside that supports extremely fast VOOC 3.0 charging via a USB Type-C port.

The latest Color OS 6.0 interface that users will interact with brings in a plethora of customization options and enhancements including riding mode, navigation gestures, gaming mode, and better notification management.

Other notable additions include Dolby-atmos powered stereo audio output, a fast in-display sensor,  triple cooling control, 3 microphones for Audio recording, 3-way smart switch antenna technology, dual frequency GPS, and all latest connectivity options.

An unmatched experience!

That’s a lot to have in a handheld gadget. The practical experience of living with the Reno 10x Zoom beats about everything we’ve handled so far.

It has an impressive and versatile camera system, is a fabulous phone to consume multimedia content, can support the heaviest of gaming titles without breaking a sweat, has a long-lasting battery, and looks and feels phenomenal!
