After launching the PS5 Slim last year in the US, Sony is finally bringing it to India. The company has announced that it will be launching the PS5 Slim on April 05 in India. While the design of the PS5 Slim is identical to the original PS5, it is both lighter and smaller while delivering the same performance.
PS5 Slim Price in India
The PS5 Slim will be available in two variants, just like the original PS5—PS5 Slim Disc Edition and PS5 Slim Digital Edition. The Digital Edition is priced at INR 44,990 and the Disc Edition at INR 54,990.
PS5 Slim vs PS5: What’s the Difference?
While the PS5 Slim is being launched almost four years after the original PS5, launched in 2020, the internals here are almost exactly the same. So, what’s so “slim” about the PS5 Slim? Well, there are three differences—size, weight, and storage capacity.
1. Reduced Size
The original PS5 Disc Edition has dimensions of 104mm x 390mm x 260mm while the newer PS5 Slim counterpart is a bit shorter, narrower, and thinner at 96mm x 358mm x 216mm. The same goes for the digital versions of the PS5 and PS5 Slim at 92mm x 390mm x 260mm and 80mm x 358mm x 216mm, respectively.
This makes the PS5 Slim 30% smaller than the original PS5 in terms of the physical footprint.
2. Reduced Weight
Furthermore, the PS5 Slim is 25% lighter than the original PS5, both the Disc Editions and the Digital Editions. Although the PS5 Slim is unarguably smaller than the original PS5, it still is larger than other consoles in the market such as the Xbox Series X.
3. More Storage Capacity
Although the size of the PS5 Slim has been reduced, the storage capacity has not. The PS5 Slim now has 1 TB of storage space on both editions so gamers can store more games on their consoles. For reference, the original PS5 has 825 GB of internal storage.
